Ok I'm almost 100% buying a procharger kit here soon. I'm wanting to know what else is needed out of the box after install. Basically at first i just want to install the procharger and run the stock 7 psi pulley and not worry about upgrading anything. Is this possible to do safely?

Also I'm prob going to upgrade the injectors and run more boost in the future but what else is needed to run more boost Safely. Sorry for the scatterbrained post.

T H A N K S

And yes Ive searched here and at my350z, but its come to the point were I'm starting to get confused.

procharger doesnt have a good fuel managment. I remember seeing someone selling a used ss box either here or my350z.com or u can buy a better fuel management like greddy, utec, etc but it will run u at least 500. GL I would have gone with the vortech bc the procharger u will have to cut into the frame to make it fit plus vortech gives u the fuel setup and 8psi pulley.

get a UTEC. the procharger kit comes with no way of adjusting timing!!!

just a heads up too...........I have never dealt with a worse company that ATI, either. PRochargers make power, but I would never buy another product from ATI after the debacle I went through back in 1995 with them; I bought a kit from them, and didn't realize that I was joining their R&D department. They had done nothing in terms of testing reliability, fitment, etc.

I didn't have to cut in to the frame to make the unit fit on my '04 coupe. I did cut a bit of the radiator support out to improve airflow, but it wasn't required.

As others have said, look in to some sort of engine management. I went with a TS reflash (mistake), 380cc PE injectors, a Walbro 255, and a complete return system.

I would install an A/F guage BEFORE installing the Procharger. That's what got me, I broke piston rings before I even had my wideband hooked up.

Also, one final word of caution, if you don't know much about FI on a high compression motor do your research now. I didn't know anything at all about FI when I bought my Procharger and it ended up costing me a LOT more in the end.

So basically im going to have to upgrade the fuel pump and return fuel system And get some type of engine management. Plus most likey Larger Injectors So thats like 2,200 right their. Then installion and tune is like 1,500. So thats like another 3,700 i have to drop into this kit. Is it me or would it be easyer going with a greddy tt?

The pro charger also has issues with the mounting bracket warping. Its not thick enough. If your set on a SC set-up definately go with the Vortech kit. Fits great and runs pretty good on the stock set-up

just curious, why the procharger over the vortech?

I can only think of a small handful of reasons why someone would choose the ATI at this point in time over the vortech, and none of those reasons are really absolute killer reasons

If I remember correctly, the Procharger C2 compressor is capable of more boost then the Vortech compressor. I had plans of running my Procharger up to 18psi (I believe max is 24 or so).

Thats a very good reason right there.

You just need to make sure you do it right, as with any form of FI.

well the blower is "capable" of higher boost than the stock vortech blower, but that's about it. I have yet to see a stable 15+ psi coming out of a procharger that doesn't end up having issues breaking and bending stuff

you can upgrade the vortech blower to a T-trim blower though and the rest of the kit can handle the power, where the ATI seems to snap belts and bend the bracket assembly at higher boost levels. People have tried it

the vortech blowers seem to be perfectly able to handle being overdriven from the stock specs. Many people run smaller pulleys on the vortechs just fine. Lots of people are running 12 psi on the stock blower with 2.87 pulley. And Booger has proven that 15 psi is completely possible with the T-trim and 3.12 pulley

The kit is a great kit if you upgrade your ECU with a piggy back and get a good tune. Been tracking with mine for 40k miles now and everyday hard driving. Only problem I have is braking belts if i drop a gear too fast, also my serp belt is slippin and squeakin( I think I need a new idler pulley)....

I think the only nightmare about it is changing the oil on the unit.... they give you a think to suck it out but it sucks so I take the whole unit out everytime.

You can buy the belts from any industrial belting supplier. They are manufactured by Gates, a very big industrial belting manufacturer. I was lucky enough to find a place that actually had them in stock within 45 minutes of me.
