Time to go forced induction

Well, I've had the car for 2mo, and I gotta say... it needs forced induction... thing just falls flat on its face up high (I guess maybe I am spoiled with my sti) Anyway I am looking for advice an options.

I myself would like to go with a turbo kit... kinda partial to turbos power delivery.

My questions are:

1) are there any turbo kits that are smog legal? (Carb in california)
2) can anyone give me any estimations on the general avaliable greddy or turbonetics kits (what kinda hp can I expect, and how safe is the tune at those hp levels)

3) can somone recommend a place for a deal thats reputable?
4) while supercharging isnt ideal for me, its better than staying NA. If there are no legal turbokits (I dont feel like HAVING to spend a ton of time/money reverting the thing to stock for emissions testing etc) recommendations there?

Thanks in advance

the only two FI kits that are CARB legal are the vortech and stillen. Greddy is not CARB and probably never will be. Actually any FI kit that makes you change fuel injectors is not CARB legal. The JWT is the only turbo kit that might have a shot at becoming CARB legal, but it still isn't

yeah VRT is a good CA shop too, they actually have some sort of relationship with JWT and team up with install/tuning etc. There's a few others I just can't think of right now. IMO GT Motorsports is probably the best though since they actually engineer parts really know what's going on with cars - not just a shop that installs parts

I carry the vortech CARB Papers (Printed online) for my HKS Kit. Dumb young cop stopped me for speeding, saw my meters & ask for papers for my S/C. Showed him CARB papers calmly.

Cop: How come it says Vortech here?
Me: Yes, sir, nearly all blowers are supplied by vortech, they are very known blower mfg., It's like all pants are made in China regardless what brand.
This is a Infiniti super charger by Nissan (The CARB paper does say infiniti g35/nissan 350Z super charger) using vortech blower. Infiniti dealer installed it for me, I am sure they won't do it if there's any issues?

I walk away with just a speeding ticket. lol

That's an ignorant comment to make with no facts to back it up. Do you care to follow up with your experience, the data or the links to the data?

If not, which competitor do you work for, ha!

I've heard nothing but good things about VRT, their work, and their customer service over the past two years that I've been researching this for myself. FI is in my future too, so if you've really got something on them, let's hear your side of the story. I'm sure VRT will reply with theirs...

Are you seriuos? You have to carry "CARB" papers for all your mods? Funny to think that CA was where hot rodding got its birth.....sounds more like CA wished they had abourted hot Rodding, instead of birthing it....HOW SAD!!!!

I never have heard of the need to carry papers for CARB...Just have a sticker that is visible...Perhaps they changed the laws.
