Not sure if this should be in FI section or Video section, but I'm looking for a video of open dumps on a G/Z. Search has yielded no results thus far. I'm trying to decide if it's going to be too loud or not. Unfortunately, there's no one around with dumps for me to listen. Kthanx

 

I'll try to create one this weekend. On my setup It wasn't as bad but I only have a ST, As a matter of fact I love it coz it really sound intimidating. You already know that I have the STS so my Turbo and Wastegate are all in the back, so sound doesn't really bother me much. I got a chance to hear it from behind Lewis' (the other STS Tester) car and that thing is Nasty but in a good way First you hear the turbo whining then wastegate open and tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk.....

Here very short Vid. This is only a 1st gear pull and probably 1-2lbs of boost (Not a great example coz Wastegate hasn't really opened yet) so with a full Boost just imagine it 4x louder.

i'll check out the vid in a bit, but the wastegate shouldn't open until you hit full boost...it'll sound the same on a ST or TT since it's just exhaust gas. Let me know when you get the other video up Thanks!

 

It won't sound the exact same because of the style exhaust and dumps. Are you looking for TT dumps? I have seen a vid somewhere but can't remember where it was.

but as a gauge how loud it can be then I don't think it cant be any louder than the STS dump. STS is literally at the end and there is nothing covering it to block some of the sound. If this is acceptable to him then I bet the rest will be acceptable.

 

True, but close enough...it's the "loudness" factor I'm interested in. My 2 HKS's are pretty loud at 3 lbs...I can only imagine how loud they'll be at 15 lbs. Just curious about the setup as a whole...turbo whine, dump, blow off. Getting on the highway must be LOUD

 

The dyno was before the open dumper. The 1/4mile run was with the open dump.

cant hear dumps at all in 1/4 mi run. Anyone else with a vid, im very interested as well... maybe someone should post on my350z

BTW, vids don't do open dumps justice. It will sound mean at 15psi, like it wanted to eat little babies for lunch, the tone of an open dump on a single sounds much sweeter tho... search gman2004 or something like that, he has sgp dumps with high boost and a big dual custom exhaust or something, sounds wicked....

I just wish the greddy kit came with bigger wg's so we could run bigger dump pipes for a lower tone... oh well, in the meantime open dumps + cutouts ftmfw

he had engine damage so they decided to blow up the motor on the dyno a couple of days later. for fun, they opened up a direct line of nitrous into the motor on the dyno......that is the cloud of nitrous as the motor came apart and the nitrous was still flowing .....coming out of every opening in the motor. LOL!!!
