forced induction help

i know there is a variety of super chargers and turbos for the g35 but im currently looking into buying one and since some of you here have and or know a lot about them maybe you guys could answer a couple questions?

which turbo would prob be the best option (price/labor/overall power)?
for example the greddy twin turbo is nicely priced BUT the labor is
a killer while the turbonetics single turbo is a nice little drop in

if you think supercharger is a better way to go, which one??
the stillen is ok but i dont like the hood id have to use with it
as opposed to being able to get a vortech which is nice and hidden

also i really like and want the kinetix
SSV Polished Stainless Steel Intake Manifold
but i dont know if it is really worth the money i heard that it kind of robs you of power..if it DOEs add power i already know its not much but it sure as hell looks nice, and besides itll scare the hell out of people who dont have g35 and dont know about it hehe

also is getting things like cams and internals a waste for me right now??

I think the SSV manifold actually adds a lot of power on FI applications. I am not positive on that, but i am pretty damn sure.

If you're researching for FI go here:

http://www.my350z.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=182

Search search search. That forum will become your best friend.

From my experience, if you want a supercharger the vortech is the way to go. Stillen is crap, you can get like 310-320whp with them, such a waste of money.

If you want to go turbo, the JWT TT is probably the most reliable kit on the market. Be prepared to spend at least 10K on a TT setup.

Ok

I spent months researching before I got my first kit. (stillen SC)

Then I spent months researching my next kit (Greddy TT)

You need to spend some time reading and researching before you drop that kind of money. At least you will have an idea of what you are getting.

If you have $12k to blow then go TT. It is the best option hands down but if not do some reading….

here's what to do:

1 - research
2 - figure out exactly what kind of power you want, how you will use it, and just your goals. This will guide you to how much to spend so your not disappointed.
3 - pick your setup and enjoy!

^^^What they said. I researched for about a year before I actually took the plunge. There are not only a number of different kits out there, there are various setups that you can go with for every kit. You need to to first figure out your budget and your power goals and take it from there.

Hex, did you install the Vortech yourself? Are you happy with the power?

No, GTM installed the Vortech (and a bunch of other things too) and tuned it for me. Yes, I am very happy with the power. It's more power than I can use on a daily basis. I live right smack in the middle of Hollywood/L.A. so I don't get a chance to really open her up very often. But when I do . . . .

Basically what everyone is advice is very true.. Put the time into it. Research is your best tool. Figure in your goals.. 15 minutes after I brought my G35 I know it was gonna go on boost. There are a lot of resources out there for you depending on your goals.. This being my 2nd car for which I'm going FI (BMW M3 my first) I know what to look for and how to spend my money wisely. Shop around for the best parts.. Its possible that u can get a Turbo kit well under manufactures cost. Great deals out there.. Just use wise judgement.

With any FI setup, have a engine-building fund ready at all times. Not that you'll blow your engine, but don't expect the dealership to warranty your engine after FI. It's hard enough with just NA mods. These engines been proven to hold up to 400 rwhp with a good tune. Good luck!

i got a lot of team members FI'ed and daily driven through NYC streets. a few of them have been FI'ed for over a few years w/ no issues. it all comes down to checking maintainence thats it.

I searched and decided to go ST over TT not only for the cash but because i know i wasn't going to do a full build on my block -- i went ST to show customers how strong and reliable a stock block is
