you don't have to live in houston, you have to take your valve body out and ship it the company. stillen also has one, there in CA. your car will be down for at least 5 working days.

Depends on what you want out of the car and if you are willing to spend $$$ to do it right.

Turbos require a lot of maintenance. Especially on cars that didn't come with turbos from the factory. If you look at all the cars that are Turbocharged, most of them are now for sale only after 6months of being turbo'd. Why?

Because of the maintenance, problems, and the smell. Non-factory turbo cars smells pretty bad. It's either burning oil, leaking oil, running rich or both.

Trust me on this, for a car such as a G, I would recommend a supercharger. Not as fun as a turbo, and doesn't make the PSSHH sound of the BOV, but it does provide a little fun.

And if you are gonig to go with a turbo, I recommend a rebuilt on the motor. Low compression forged pistons and rods. Bigger fuel injectors, hi-pressure fuel pump, a good tune, etc etc. There are lots of work on a turbo'd car.

I guarantee that after 6 months or so, you will either sell the car and rip the turbo out. If you wanted a turbo'd car, get one that came from the factory. Such as the 335i, STI, mitsu EVO. etc. etc. Turbo car from the factory are a lot more reliable, their engines were built for turbo's, and the car doesnt SMELL bad at all.

Every non-factory turbo'd car I have experience with all were running rich and have some oil leakage somewhere. Even some with an exhaust leak. You won't mind the smell for the 1st 3 months, but after that, you will be listing your turbo parts for sale and maybe even the entire car.

GOOD LUCK.

I there are so many misinformations here that I don't know were to start

First, What smell you are talking about? Do you mean running non-Cat? coz last time I check even Vortech SC benefit from freeing up the exhaust. maybe you are the one that smell not the turbo.

Second, Running Rich?? Do you know even SC run the same A/F as turbo right They run around 11.0 -11.5 for safety and also add cooling on the engine.

third, Burning oil? Even NA has problem with Oil consumption so this is basically based on the engine's health. FYI, I have a turbo and after 2700miles of hard driving and my engine only consume less than 1/8 of a quart of oil

4th Leaking oil? Were? ah last time I check even Vortech has an Oil return line so that has potential to leak just like a Turbo.

5th, maintenance? Do you mean making sure that the belt is always tight With turbo just make sure you change your oil regularly then that's it.

6th, most turbo are on sale after six month? maybe lots of TN kit but that could be most are switching to TT kit.

FYI, Lots of SC owner all converted to turbo after 1 year of driving and some are after just a month of driving

I can't even count how many Stillen, Vortech owner here that are now driving TT

someone find me a SINGLE blown stock engine with a vortech that wasn't due to stupidity/ignorance/previous NA abuse

so do SC's. SC's require you to keep an eye on the belts here and there. I haven't looked at my belts for about 2 months now though. However, turbo kits can potentially have more severe long term problems due to their extreme heat.

both turbos and SC setups can run test pipes and have to deal with more oil and fuel

vortech and ATI SC kits have a bypass valve. In fact the vortech's bypass valve is just as loud if not louder than a lot of turbo kits. The JWT TT kit for instance hardly has any BOV sound at all.

/\ And this is coming from a SC owner thanks for not taking this as Turbo VS SC debate but the other poster's reason like maintenance, smell, Running Rich is just plain STUPID

I know I'm biased and would obviously choose vortech over stillen because I already did, but I have good reason for it.

Compared to the most hardcore stillen SC setups, my vortech car has equal power with them around 2500-3200 rpms and then at higher rpms, I have about 100 more tq.

As far as below 2500 rpms, I might have 20-30 tq less than a stillen car, but I hardly care. Besides, 3.9 final drive makes up for that anyway
