Now I really want one!!
Now I really want one!!
After seeing some amazing cars at NOPI...I really want an FI system!! Lots of guys didn't have good things to say about Vortech though. ProCharger seemed to be the preferred supercharger for the VQ35. Any thoughts? I know this question has been around for a while, but I wanted to hear from Vortech guys who are happy...anyone? What about procharger guys?
...now I just have to grease the wheels to get this project going

i was just getting ready to put my built engine & Greddy TT setup for sale...
i just have to talk to Sharif about a few things.
I was thinking about 8 grand, for everything.
built engine, turbo's, utec, zeitronix and anything else
turbo/engine related I might have forgotten...
i'd just need your engine in exchange.
we can have Sharif sit the cars side-by-side & simply switch things around.
just have to ask him 1st
look at my threads started here & on my350z, there are a couple of threads that go into alot of detail on my build-up last year
PM me if interested

lol so what bad things did people have to say about the vortech kit? It's been the most reliable FI system to date and can make some respectable power
procharger is great as long as you have no plans to go much above 400whp. Otherwise prepare to go through hell trying to not have the belts snap on you
IMO though, I still think the vortech is the better overall kit than the ATI. I'm happy with mine. Lots of room for making power - not as much as a turbo though of course, but still a solid amount of power as long as you upgrade from the stock pulley
The limits on both kits haven't been found yet though but low 400's for the ATI and mid-upper 400's for the vortech have been made

Vortech FTMFW!!!
40K+ miles on the SC and NOT ONE issue... I have been running the 3.12 pulley since day one on a stock block @ 400+ RWHP... My car has 80K+ miles on her and still pulls like a friggn freight train...
Like anything it is all about how you take care of it and maintain it.

Not an expert and don't have a SC
but based on the #'s I have seen or at least posted here or my350Z, the ATI seem to produce more TQ than the Vortech. I even saw a 383/371 and that is close to a Turbo HP/TQ numbers.

the ATI will have more power out of the box, but a lot of that is because it doesn't change timing and has a lot of potential to blow up your engine.
The vortech is weaker out of the box mainly because it reduces timing and because the stock 3.33 pulley that it comes with doesn't make much power. You can upgrade the pulley though and have a lot more potential than the ATI to make power without as much risk for blowing your engine or having to worry about snapping belts

hey triji, not that it matters, but whats your MPG with the SC. just curious.
So, the last time I checked it (about 2 months ago) I went about 270 miles on a tank I think it was. I am not sure if that is good or bad but I was hoping for over 300.

, I bought the cover for around $200.00 and then got my dremel out and took about 4-6 hours to mark it cut it very carefully. I sanded the edges down w/ 1000 grit and it came out great! I am going to have to buy another one and dremel it again for when I get the cosworth plenum on there.

I've hit 370-383 tq with the vortech on dynodynamics and dynojets. One guy who uses a T-trim vortech blower on a stock block hit about 400tq on a dynojet
it takes a little bit of work to get up to 380 tq though with the proper breathing mods and fuel system and usually a 2.87 pulley. So just want to say it's not like the stock kit will just automaticlly crank out 380 tq if you want it. This is why the tuner kit is popular - because then you don't have to buy all the stuff you're going to ditch anyway
and with the 2.87 pulley, peak tq hits around 4400 rpms. With a turbo it'd probably be sooner - like 3200-3800 rpms
you can take things even further by switching the rear cog jackshaft pulley from a 32 tooth to a 34 tooth pulley for an additional 20tq/hp or so. Or bite the bullet and get a T-trim blower (around $2000 I think) and make some more power if you can keep the belts from slipping. That's another thing - there's lots of mods for stopping the belt from slipping that you'll have to do at some point with more power.
