Nice job getting it done yourself! I'm sure that's a sturdy 4 x 4 piece of wood, but it still looks precarious. Good luck getting it wrapped up without further incident...

Pretty much all done..

Well got in the new pan today. Didnt realize that the lil ball check valve in the oil filter space was not included in the new pan, so I have to order that tomorrow. Couldnt get the one out of the old pan, even with some heat.

Ohh well.... the Ultra Gray has to have a some time to dry anyhow. All that's left to do is mount back up the sway, mount the intake tube, reattach oil lines, refill fluids, and be right back to the point I was 1.5 weeks ago before I cracked that damn hole.

Hopefully that drop of coolant last week was left over from a previous leak

PharmD you are a bad omen!!

Started the car for the 1st time today. let it idle in the garage for a fwe mins and sure enough, oil puddle under the car.

F'n rear seal. Got under there, cleaned it off with brake cleaning, tighened the bolts to 24 foot pounds, drove some more and that seems to have done the trick. No oil spots now (knock on wood)

Either way, if it does leak again, i'm pullin my blower and takin it into the dealer and let them deal with the "warranty" issue.

Also learned importance of tight clamps, blew the intake off the throttle body in the midle of the. Car doesnt like to run with a working MAF.

well poop. followed instructions in the service manual to a T and this is what happens

This time I am going to coat the entire rubber seal with Ultra Grey, instead of just some of it like stated in the service manual.

At least i had the upper pan down in 1.5 hrs this time, unlike the all day affair last time.

**** Also, I installed that DIY catch can using my own tubing on the passenger side. I dont think that there was a 1 way valve in that piece of hose. Was there??? If so, then that could be why I say a lot more oil when i got on boost. It was blowing the oil out that seal.

I am using a breather filter on the driver side PCV.

Thanks!

nah u didnt warn me. you said it happened to you, after I had finished the project. My seal was not folded.

So your verbose reply of "added a lot more ultra gray", means what? where did you add more sealer? did you apply sealer over the entire area of the rubber rear seal?

thanks

Dude dont get mad at me when I tried to warn u in the first place. I was kind of enough to warned u... I could have been a jerk and said NOTHING!!!!

You should of rechecked it after I told u or take it to someone who can do it for u. Also, if there wasnt a fold, then how did it leak? Let me guess MAGIC. So GL the second time around and I hope u got NEW gaskets.

I think I will get the oil spacer if I go with a vortech, and avoid this problem. Thanks for helping me decide to buy the spacer though!
