it really depends on how it was used and driven, how it was maintained, who installed it, etc.... i would get new gaskets though thats a given. for a turbo kit i wouldn't go half ***. and just call up Vinnytenracing.com they have good prices on kits installed. i just had one of my pipes replaced under warranty which you won't get if you buy a used kit.

Go buy a new one...I not too long ago use to look for used products too, but now when it comes to turbo etc. I will only buy new or buy nothing, unless you know for a fact the history of that product. Besides that, other parts are fine to buy use, just not the turbo/sc big money parts etc.

buying a used kit isnt always bad. just make sure you know turbos. check for shaft play well. if it wiggles side to side a lot dont buy it. if it wiggles in and out a lot, definitely do not buy it. a used turbo can be slutted out for many miles.

+1

I bought a used gt2871r for my 240sx, I checked the turbo all over, no shaft play, etc. and it turned out great for me. Saved a lot of money and I was boosting around 18-19 psi on it, daily driving it real hard, never had any problems. There is an inherent risk in buying anything used, but that's why it's cheaper than buying it brand new. I just bought a used JWT-tt kit from these forums, it's on the way right now, hopefully it turns out fine. Bought it from a reputable buyer, asked all the right questions about it's condition and shaft play, so we'll see.

If you wanna be safe, buy new. Wanna save some money and buy used, make sure you do it right to minimize the risk.

I would buy new if I were you, my friend bought a used Greddy TT kit and there were parts missing, gaskets were all bad, it was just a mess. If you do buy used make sure you know the person and/or check their reputation. And make sure that if you are not around to actually hold it in your hands have good pictures, and also add if the turbo kit is not up to par you will return it. If they say no then you might want to think why they are saying no. Just my 2 cents from past experince. Hope that helps.

A used kit shouldn't be so bad. The only thing that can "go bad" is the turbo with shaft play, but you can have the turbo internals rebuilt for @2-300. Who in the hell would re-use a gasket anyways??

I'd just make sure you really get a deal on buying it used. A lot of people think they can re-sell their old turbo **** for almost what they paid for it new.

I don't have a problem buying used stuff like that but only as long as I either knew the seller and/or they were local and I could inspect the parts first.

Like 88G35 said you always run the risk of missing parts. If you're spending that much it's not a bad idea to use a escrow account where you pay ~half and then get to inspect the parts before you pay the other half.

well so far all the parts that i have been gettin are new.. I deal with this person in Cali and he seems to be on point wit the prices.. Going used turbo would be a bad idea because of the fact that you don't know how hard they have been worked..
