That is correct. If the fiberglass bumper doesn't stop you (and it won't) the next thing to get squished is your new Greddy Intercooler, then the radiator support and into your engine. I am working with a local metal shop to try to come up with a mount to allow the bumper to be put back on, but it doesn't come with the kit.

Custom piping should not be that much.

I've still got the stock bumper on my car running near 500hp and I have NO air flow problems.

Oh I don't think there is a difference. I never said the stock bumper was still stock.....

I have a cutout for the intercooler AND my front bumper still matches the lines of the car. Also, the FMIC is perfectly trimmed, giving it a total stock look.

To top it off, it cost me less to have a custom 1 of 1 front fascia made then to buy an aftermarket one and pay to have it fitted and painted.

You shouldn't be posting this coz you don't have a stock bumper, at least not 100% stock.

Why shouldn't I be posting? I have a stock front bumper that fits the car better then aftermarket, fits the intercooler better then aftermarket, looks better then aftermarket (subjective), and cost less then aftermarket!

Custom is the only way to go!

The majority of the aftermarket options I've seen look like the designer never even saw the car. The lines don't match and they are way too aggressive for the sleek sexyness that is the G35.

but we are talking about FMIC performance on an OEM stock bumper. As far as I'm concern, your stock bumper is just like any aftermarket bumper that has an opening for better Air Flow.

Edit:
I was going your route but after asking shops here in NYC, the cost is almost close to just getting a used Aftermarket kit. I got my Authentic TP bumper from one of the guy here and only payed $200 and cost me another $400 to paint and repair the damage.

This is a viable option though. The OP stated he didn't want a new bumper. He is talking about spending >$2000 to have custom piping/intercoolers installed. But, for less then $1000 you can have the OEM bumper, which he wants to keep, modified.

Others have modified the front bumper cover to allow for better airflow for way less then what I spent. I spent a little more because I like the look of a "framed" intercooler.

From a financial and performance perspective this is the best route for the OP to take, so it is relevent!

JWT tuner kit w/ 700bb upgrade is required to get near the power potential of the Greddy. That said, the cost is only $1k more but you also lose the EMS (no biggie).

I don't want to argue. We have suggested for him to just change the bumper to what ever he want as long as it has an opening for the FMIC. Last time I checked it still cost around $400-$700 to modify and repaint the Stock bumper. The bottom line is that we all said that changing the bumper will be more cost effective than changing the IC and fabricating pipes. Guess what, he still wanted the twin intercooler. Yours is another option and getting a used bumper is also an option. It cost me $600 to for my Authentic TopSecret bumper fixed and painted and the fitment is great.

I got the aps single kit that shares the same fmic that the twin kit has. frankly I think a quality fmic will flow fine with the stock bumper. the powerloss to cost ratio doesn't make sense to spend a grand+ for a custom fmic setup that nets you 20hp( if that) might as well throw on a meth kit to drop temps for 600 and run a more aggressive tune. **** the nos intercooler spray kits are 300. There are so many better ways to spend money.
