S/C questions
Hey,
I'm considering getting a Vortech but before I do I had a few questions for the experienced.
1)What happens when registration time comes around? how can you pass smog?
2)How much maintenance time is req'd (cleaning intercooler tubes etc)

Re: S/C questions
Rumor has it that the Vortech unit is very close to receiving CARB certification. Of course, in other states (i.e. not California) it's probably not an issue.
Some extra maintenance IS INDEED required to keep belts tightened, to make sure that plugs are clean, etc. Also, if you add any modifications to the car after installing the supercharger you will need to make sure that the A/F ratio remains safe.

Re: S/C questions
Unfortunately since you live with the emissions gestapo you will have to wait for the cert. For the rest of us it makes no difference. With ODBII, they just plug in and check codes here. On older cars they do a dyno emissions test. Evne if this was required on new cars, the SC would make no difference. Keep in mind that there is no boost unless you are under heavy throttle. The extra air out of the discharge side of the compressor is vented out. Since the engine receives no additional air, there is no change to the fuel or timing settings.
