Question for 5AT Vortech owners!
I have a question about this statement on the vortech website:
"These systems will bolt-on to automatic transmission equipped vehicles, however, the transmission may need to be in manual shift mode to avoid engaging the rev limiter."
So here is the question, when your doing normal driving, will it shift regularly in automatic (not manual mode), or will it go all the way into redline then shift? If you do drive it at WOT will it shift as it did before the s/c, or will it go past redline in automatic(not manual mode)?

Driving normally it will shift on time just like it would without a SC but going WOT it will hit the rev limiter as mine did in all gears. I reflashed the ECU with an L flash if I remember correctly as it's been years since I did it, it raises the limiter to 7200 which helps.
Search on Technosquare, they are the ones that do the reflash. It will shift in both MM and Auto but without the reflash it will hit the limiter as the Vortech picks up speed to fast for the ecu to react.

You don't need a boost controller on a SC kit, it runs off a pulley system not a actuator.
Besides the full kit I would recommend an tranny cooler and oil cooler just to be on the safe side.
Lots of threads cover this already though.

thanks fellas, I would like to do the install myself, I like to be in the know.
Valve body upgrade? Ive heard of this before, is it something I could to myself or does the tranny have to come out?

You need to send away for both items to get upgraded, not something you can do yourself.
Edge racing do TC
VB upgrades can be done by a few shops on the forum like GTM and Forged Peformance.....I have both VB and TC upgrades along with tranmission internals, not cheap but necc. for bigger power.
Great, thanks! Not looking to make tons of HP, I just want to stay competitive with the newer models on the market 330hp+
How much hp/whp should I expect to make with the stock pulley?

Well there is no definative answer as people have got as low as 330 to as much as 370, look at the sticky at the top of the FI section , it lists a lot of info. on what people have got and with what mods.
