CARB approved turbo kit
CARB approved turbo kit
I see HKS has received CARB approval for a Honda turbo kit. To the best of me knowledge this is the first "front mounted" turbo kit to receive approval.

Here's one article.. http://www.vetteweb.com/tech/vemp_08...kit/index.html
This is from STS
"STS turbo systems are also one of the few turbo systems that have a CARB EO #, making them legal in all 50 states. Currently, the 2004-2006 Pontiac GTO and 1997-2005 Chevrolet Corvette (including Z06 models) STS Remote Mount Turbo Systems are covered under EO# D-593.

I wasn't aware of their approval but can understand how putting the turbo at the end of the exhaust wouldn't cause a cold start problem in testing.
I'll correct my statement to the the first "front mounted" turbo kit with approval.

The importance of this to me is not how much power the kit products. Unless you have a Honda and want one who cares. Installing a turbo upstream of the cat had previously prevented any kits from passing CARB certification as it reduces exhaust gas heat to the cat on a cold start test. Jim Wolf tried for a long time but was not able to solve this problem on the 350/G35. HKS has either found a fix on this kit or got very lucky.
My friend has one of those carb approved kits for a civic hatch, 94 or 95 style. Although it has a small turbo and doesnt produce massive power, it is definitely a fun car to drive. I wouldn't mind a smaller carb approved twin turbo for the g35.
