What do you guys think is the best gear for street driving with around 400 hp. with 6 speed mt. I tried doing a search but didnt have much luck. Also what gears could be in my 03 coupe which is fully loaded . 3.9 ?

 

You have 3.5 gears if your 6MT.3.3 if your auto.

You shouldn't have to change your FD for 400whp.

 

Would 3.3 make it feel to sluggish ? I hate how fast you need to shift into second gear even in normal driving first gear just seems to me way to short

 

first gear is going to be too short no matter what, it has a 3.794:1 gear ratio which is crazy short.

if you go with a taller final drive, you might help your first gear's shortness some at the expense at making all the rest of the gears that much more sluggish

with a turbo, I wouldn't bother changing final drives until you're close to 500whp

 

Anyone do a 4.08 FD in a 6MT w/ FI (specifically vortech... w/ around 400whp?)

 

That would be a mistake. Too short. Stick with 3.5 or go 3.3 but not shorter.

 

I was thinking of changing the rear out because it has a slight gear wine thats what makes me wonder if it would be better to go with the 3.3 ?
