The two step will be easily programmed to any RPM setting so you can use it at a level that won't hurt anything!

 

Would it be possible to setup the 2 step for 5AT?

 

The 2 step should still work with the 5AT, but that is something we would have to test.

Speaking of the 2 step, I'm almost done with the 2 step code - things have been pretty busy around here and its slowing down development. Hopefully this weekend I'll have the 2 step working!

Wait. I must be missing something here. Does the 6mt do something weird when you try to powershift? I thought the whole point of shifting without lifting is to build up momentum in the flywheel/clutch assembly so that when you release the clutch after the gear shift, you'll have that extra couple of rpms of stored energy to help you accelerate faster.

 

I'd love to test this, but my car won't be done for another month...

 

OK, I was planning on having the two step working by this weekend, but some things freed up in my schedule.

It's rough, with a slight overshoot before it settles, but this was the first try with the software. I have quite a few things I want to do to perfect it (lead in tweaking mostly but some tweaking on the downslope too). I still have to write all the code so that the two step setpoint can be programmed as well.

Honestly, I've thrown together a couple hundred lines of code just to make sure this is going to work - and now I know it will. I now have to go back and pretty up the code that I wrote and fill in the blanks for the missing features.

I was actually surprised as hell that it actually worked as well as it did on the first attempt. I had it working on my test bench, but there is no real way to know how the motor is going to react. I figured I would have to tweak a few values, but I guess my preliminary research was good enough to make it work this well.

I also have a test install lined up for this Saturday, and another tester to start trying these things out.

 

The goal is to drop the RPM of the motor slightly to make the car easier to shift.

Powershifting is an alternative, but powershifting on a DD is very risky. This provides a split second of protection before bouncing off the rev limiter. Bouncing off the rev limiter is bad because it takes so long to recover.

kevin! man i have been crazy busy i forgot to check, but do you need testers? i will be hitting the track this week, and would like to have it before then so i can install it (as long as it isnt to hard) on my own! if you still have that deal please let me know ASAP! so i can order tomorrow!
