I just had the V3 installed on my car with the full kit...Makes the installs a easier for sure...Haven't gotten to drive the car much since it went straight from the engine shop to the bodyshop to have the kit installed, but give me about 2 monthsand I will be through my first "oil change" on the V3 so I can let you guys know how that goes...The installers said the positioning of all drain line will make it really easy to change, so we shall see how it goes..

Oh and the V3 and the V2 are the same price....

Yes definetly keep us posted. That's great that the V2 and the V3 are the same price. Maybe if one of the sponsors is willing to do a group buy I'd be willing to get in on it!

having to tap the oil line has always kind of turned me off from the vortech.. I had a procharger on my vette for over a year which I bought used from a friend that drove on it for over 2 years... I always changed the oil on it regularly and never had one issue...

I new self contained unit would be great.... is the HKS self-contained or do you have to tap thee oil line on that setup also..

Sounds like there's a loose tolerance somewhere in the turbine assembly which might cause excessive wear on the seals that's supposed to contain the oil in the SC. You said you've had it for 4 years? Maybe the turbine bearings are getting worn and allowing excessive play and wearing out the seals. The turbine does spin upwards of 40,000rpms which would put a lot of wear and tear. Maybe that's why we don't see many centrifugal SCs on production cars as factory installs.

I would think getting the self-contained lube SC would fix the problem, but would you start experiencing the same issue 4 years later? I dunno.

Didn't Vortech have a bearing "issue" a while back? If the bearings are out of tolerance, it will prematurely wear the oil seal.

yes they did, and am not sure if its resolved yet. lots of bad blower still goin back. i think my IC has oil it in from a bad seal. the underside of my car is all oily from the bpv. hopefully the new blower is better.

Yeesh.. so Vortech is still having bad seal and bearing issues with their blowers? I thought that happened last summer? Or is it really still happening?

sorry for this being a noob question, but does the V3 kit still need an oil catch can? are there still problems with oil vapors and oil discharging from the system?

But will the self contained system prevent a lot of the oil from gettting into the intercooler piping for example, like it seems to happen to some guys with the Vortech? Or would one still be advised to get a catch can even for the V-3

The "catch can" is for vapors that condense and collect oil in the lower plenum from the PCV circuit. The oil in the Intercoolers is from the leaking bearings in the Centrifugal Super charger. (Right?) There is no catch can for that. You need a drain at the lowest point on the IC.

So the V3 is NOT recommended for a car with occasional track time? Self contained oil heats up more or what?
