I have that issue but can't find the source anywhere. Where was yours coming in from?

 

computer did not pull any codes. so far the fuel system checks out, pumps working, everything connected, no leaks. No spark at the factory test lead, so they're going after the crank sensor, then the ecu.

will the car die suddenly if utec is involved? how would you know if moisture is in it?

 

When mine got wet the either the O2 readings went off or the injector control was off because it was going lean - rich - lean - rich etc. Depending on how wet, etc it could just shut down too.

 

I had trouble when water was coming through the rubber grommet through the firewall. It turned out that the turbo installers had just pushed it back on - they didn't actually seal it properly. It ran really rough and the A/F readings were all over the place. Once the grommet was put back on properly - no more trouble.

 

I had that issue this time last year where water was coming through the firewall and messing with the Fcon, it would bog and then run fine and then bog again, only happened when it rained so I took it down to GTM and they found where the water was seeping in and fixed it.

That was almost 40k miles ago

 

So yours was the big grommet facing up?

Mine is somewhere else...

Yep, the big one that everything goes through. When I was trying to figure out what was wrong, I noticed that whenever water hits the windshield, it will flow directly down on top of that grommet. Kind of a bad place to put it really - but when it is sealed it seems to hold just fine.

 

haha! I had the same issue. Water got in back at the end of 07/beginning of 08 when we had that period of time where we had a lot of rain here in L.A. It was like a month of almost continuous rain. Anyways, rain got in through the firewall cuasing a short and ended up blowing two of my coils. But GTM took car of it for me and I haven't had an issue since. *knock on wood*
