Vortech final numbers

these are the numbers, as run on a Mustang dyno, with completely oem exhaust....

365.1RWHP

319.2RWlb-ft TQ
_________________________

in figuring in for the typical Dynojet numbers, its closer to 408.9RWHP with 357.5 TQ......... (12% CF applied)

impressed is an understatement.......

this thing rocks!! (very smooth and linear now, after custom tuning!!)

Re: Vortech final numbers

congrats. new cats/test pipes along with a decent aftermarket exhaust might get you 15-30 more. That would be a freakin' monster, not that it isn't already.

Re: Vortech final numbers

esemes,

You'll have to keep me updated on the belt wearing issues. I've seen ATI Prochargers with belt slippage issues, with oil discharge issues, etc... I've seen only 1 Vortec Unit and that thing had small belt particles ALL OVER the inside of the engine bay. I don't know if the install was bad or what, but I don't think Vortec would design a belt to fall apart over time. Let me know if you experience ANY issues what so ever.

Thanks!

Re: Vortech final numbers

If you've seen the stock y-pipe under the shielding, you'll know that an aftermarket pipe will yield some nice gains especially with all that extra exhaust volume. Mandrel bends are soooo much better than the crush bends on the stock y-pipe.

I bet with the cats and y-pipe alone (even though the fuji collector is around 3" v. 2.5 for the stock mid-pipe) you'll pick up 10-20 easily.

Re: Vortech final numbers

neff--

was that Tim's Z that you observed the dusting???

i have seen some on mine (primarily from the main belt), but it seems to be moreso from the multiple pulleys/guides causing a 'grooving' in the new belt to occur........

the dust shouldnt be consistanly created, but i havent enough time on mine yet to make that claim

Re: Vortech final numbers

Yes it was on Tim's 350Z. He said he went through one belt and it got so loose that he had to install the second belt. I don't know if it is overtightened or the gears are mis-aligned, but that should NOT happen IMO. A good kit (with a good install) should work "like butter" from the first crank on...

This "dusting" has gotten me slightly concerned. Please report back here and let "us" know if this stops or if you end up constantly changing belts.

TIA!

Re: Vortech final numbers

Wait, don't Mustang dynos usually post higher numbers than a Dynojet dyno would? Or at least to my understanding. Regardless, congrats as I'm sure your putting down pretty numbers.

Re: Vortech final numbers

this shouldnt be a constant issue....

all the pulleys and guides/tensioners are on the same plane (a la mounting bracket) and should align perfectly.......

after MANY dyno pulls (two+ days worth) and alot of hammering, i noticed i have NO new dust to report........

i now wiped the whole motor down, to keep an eye on it...

BTW, tim was given a smaller dia. belt the secound time around; prolly an upograde which my kit already received.....

if there was dust to be had, my car surely would've shown it by now....

if this is your concern, put it behind ya and place the order (although with ANY blower application, you MUST keep an eye on the drive belts...... anything can happpen , even to the 6 rib and cog belts!!). i tend to my motor on a reg. basis, so i am always ontop of the engine bay...

Re: Vortech final numbers

mustang dynos are more 'real world' measuring devices, as they also factor in the vechicle's weight, wheel circumference, and use this to help simulatethe resistance the car will have on the real roads......

Re: Vortech final numbers

Wow am I jealous. I imagine the car feels like a beast to drive now. That is one thing I miss now that I own a G35, I miss the massive torque I had in my old Trans Am. I bet the Vortech gives the G35 a V8 feeling. I'm curious what is the real world price of the Vortech. I'm sure it's a pretty penny once you buy the unit, have it installed and then get everything tuned properly. How much did the whole process cost you if you don't mind me asking?

btw...I noticed you are in Tampa so even though it probably won't mean anything to you, I will still say...

Ese,

When can we meet to take me for a ride? Remember me from the Z-Days show with the red 4 door G. I'm itching to get a s/c and you could put me over the edge! DO IT, DO IT!
