Vortech Owners

How many of you have the oil pan spacer vs taping the oil pan? Any failures because of the spacer? How hard is it to tap the pan?

I tapped the upper oil pan and run a 1" spacer for the extra quart. Its very easy to tap the upper part, the metal is soft so it takes all of 1 minute to get the hole drilled. The hardest part is the limited space that is available, you want to get it as high as possible and there are a few items that get in the way of a hand tool. GL.

I had bad experience with the blower seizing when I had it connected to the PE oil pan. Whatever route u decide to pick, just make sure NOT to tell vortech that u connected the return line to the spacer or aftermarket oil pan or it may VOID your warranty. GL

I'm running the JWT oil pan spacer, but I tapped the oil pan. No problems after 20k miles.

taping the pan is fine. The turbo kits all do it anyway. Just make sure to use synthetic oil.

if you are still considering purchasing, think long and hard about spending a little more and goin with the powerlab turbo kit. you'll get to run 50-100 ft lbs more torque easily with rod safe hp. unless you have CARB restrictions, i cant imagine any vortech owner not wanting a turbo kit. thats why there are SOOO many used kits available.

I'm a Vortech owner that doesn't want a turbo. I've owned a few in my past and while they are fun, I like the linear power that the S/C offers and I also find it easier to daily drive than the sudden power surge that turbo's tend to make. There are also a few more parts involved when going turbo along with the increased engine heat. There are advantages and disadvantages to both systems so just weigh what meets your goals.

I would personally tap it as high *** possible on the block as it is a gravity drain, if you have it going to a spacer then it is draining into oil which will flow a lot less
