Forged Performance: rcdash's twin turbo G35
Boggess, lets say you leave the car in D mode, and from a dig, you feather the gas pedal...does it still try to race to redline before it shifts out of first to 2nd and so on?
Or does the trans act the way you described when you floor the pedal?

tiguy99, Thanks for the comment. I just took it for a spin to check this out. In D mode, with the VDC off, feathering the pedal pretty much jerks the car around a bit, and the rear wheels eventually break loose. The tranny doesn't seem to slip at all.
I know I have a traction issue, but even when I get a good launch, there is still a coordination issue between 1st and 2nd gear. To answer your question, it seems to occur when I floor the pedal.

No prob bro...I have the perfect solution! Ever tried 295/30/19 on the rear tires
(assuming you have 19s thhat can support wide rubber)

It may help

Def get some stickier tires if you haven't already. I just ran some 295/35/18 Nitto NT05's and they pretty much solved my traction issues in 1st gear. They also rocked on the track.
Thanks fellas, yeah I definatley need sticker & wider tires. I am running Nitto NT555's 275/30R/20. The tread rating is 300, so not sticky at all. I just had my fenders rolled so I can put larger rubber on.
However, I still think my tranny has an issue. Canadian, does your tranny ever hit the rev-limiter and miss 2nd gear?

Thanks. It's the GTR's that will give us 5ATs a run for our money with their new transmissions. We should have a couple GTRs out at the airstrip event this year, so it'll be interesting to see if they mop up or have some trouble given the high hp 6MTs out there now.
Hi Raj,
Very, very nice set up! Thank you for sharing your 5AT TT beast with us! I have a similar set-up built by Forged, but with not near as much rwhp. Dylan did an exceptional install, and of course, Sharif tuned every horse he could squeeze out of her.
I'm now looking into improving the performance of my 5AT tranny. Forged did the valve body upgrade when the turbos were installed, but the turbos spool up so fast that my tranny won't shift from 1st to 2nd most at WOT. In 1st gear, the engine usually hits the rev-limiter before the transmission can shift. Do you have any advice that could improve this situation?
I haven't seen any viable solutions to this issue on the forums, other than replacing the entire transmission. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
-John

Our first gear ratio is just too steep for a FI motor, plain and simple. You are in worse shape because your torque peaks so much earlier with the 530bb.That said, feathering the throttle with a TC isn't easy. Too little and you will bog, too much and you will spin the tires and hit the rev limiter. What I have found works reasonably well is to just perform the 1-2 shift earlier in MM mode - say 6k rpms and raise the rev limiter (for me it's at 7200 rpms). I also decrease boost to wastegate pressure until the car reaches 25 mph. Of course, you need a standalone like the Haltech to configure launches like that...
In D mode, I guess you'd just have to let up as you approach redline...
You are welcome and I'm looking forward to seeing more folks FI with 5ATs out there. All the FI guys get lost in the swarm of NA cars though. We need to have badges that identify us as FI or NA and 6MT vs 5AT. That would be sweet!
