APS ST for AT coupe

Hey guys I would appreciate some help. I think I've done my share of research on both this and the z forum but still have a few questions. First of all I plan on going with the APS ST over the TN kit after reading through the forums but would still like both APS ST and TN owners opinions. Also I plan on getting a valve body upgrade but was wondering if a torque converter upgrade was necessary also (I know its recommended). I plan on running around 400 whp

Yes on the torque converter, it's a must in my opinion, if you dont do it now your going to end up having to do it later for sure so do it. As for your turbo, go aps not turbonetics.....in my opinion.

hmm.. 400 is border line. 400whp is not just a day in the park.. it'll take some work. so when you actually do achieve that mark AND feel your tranny slipping, then do it. I think the stock tranny will hold 400whp ok. but if you're gonna do the vb, then do it all at once.

it will be hard to get 400 on stock block at under 9psi. get the external wastegate pipe and a good exhaust

You don't need an aftermarket torque converter. Just get a valve body and you'll be fine. TQ converter is mainly just used for drag racing, doesn't affect the life of the tranny. This is pretty much what I've come to understand after reading about it.

Just do the VB upgrade and you'll be good to go. Torque converters are used for just that...converting torque.

Thanks for the feedback. Yea I know I probably wont be hitting quite 400 whp but I figured I wanted some opinions on the tranny for that much power anyway

Yea the only thing is the $$$$. Plus I need the car as a DD and I think with the APS ST I wont have the same temptation to upgrade and look for more power as much as if i went with the powerlab ST or a TT

Another issue with the APS ST is the oil scavenge pump. Might just replace it with a good unit before you do the install.

Search my350z if you want to find out more about the issues.

Should be ready soon, if it isn't already! I saw a G35 5AT @ Intense the other day that was getting a full build and a Powerlab kit!

But remember this... the temptation WILL come around, and with the Powerlab kit you won't have to do much to make more power!

The Powerlab kit is as much DD friendly as the Turbonetics or the APS... just my two cents.
