62mm turbo for rear mount application
i have a turbonetics 62-1 turbo from a mustang hellion kit im contemplating using for a g35 diy sts-style kit. i might just buy the rear exhaust/intake piping from sts and get the rest of the stuff myself. my question to you g35 turbo guys is this: do you think the 62mm turbo with .81 a/r turbine housing is too big for a bolt on g35 motor? the max hp goal would be 500rwhp. i know some mustang guys have pushed the turbo to 600rwhp, but thats the max. what is the a/r on the exhaust side of the sts 60mm kit? fwiw the turbo on a stock 5.0 spools at virtually instantly giving full boost at 2800. if i could get all that done by 3800-4000 id be happy. what do you guys think?

I think the exhaust side is too big to get any desirable amounts of torque down low. .81 is a T4 and I can imagine the turbine wheel is a P-trim. I would get a .63 T3 housing bored out for a P-trim wheel or get a .58 T4. I personally hate lag and the STS system in it's self is succeptable to lag.

for my setup the hot side the a/r is .86 and the cold side is .60. and as FI'ed G pointed out you will not achieve maximum boost until redline which is what was screwing my dyno run up. I could hear my car spooling and it could have gone higher but it hit redline. the numbers are still good for dd but when you have something with so much potential you gotta use it. i will more than likely change my hot side to something smaller because on the streets its virtually useless.
