APS TT Kit installed and it smokes

Well i have the kit installed for about a month and a half now. The car runs great but i tend to have a lot of smoking from the exhaust on some days. It doesn't happen every day and only seems to happen when i'm sitting in traffic or going really slow (traveling in 1st or 2nd gear.) It smokes so bad some days it almost completely covers the car.
Is this normal. The shop i had it done by said it might smoke initially but should go away.
It hasn't gone away and i don't understand why it's doing it. There doesn't seem to be any leaks underneath and the smoke only seems to come from the exhaust. There also tends to be a little oil on the tail pipes.
It also has a bad burning oil smell on days when it smokes.
I plan on taking it back to the shop for them to look at it, but i would like to know why it's doing it.
Is is the oil burning on the tail pipes? The exhaust is also new. No cats.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

White smoke is a coolant related. Does your turbo use coolant to cool down the turbo? If so, check your turbo inlet side to see/smell if there is some coolant around there.

Black and brown smoke (under WOT) indicates you are running too rich or lean. The car needs to be tuned if that's the case.

Blue-ish smoke...you're fvcked....
Nah...
Blue smoke usually caused by burning engine oil. It could be your turbo oil seal went bad and needs to be rebuild. Your worn out piston rings can cause this too. The best way to check if the engine is in a good shape is to do a compression check.

That's all I can think of...because I'm drunk.

1. piston rings
2. oil seals
3. too much crankcase pressure is pushing the oil/coolant past the seals internally in the turbo.

all i can think of right now.. goodluck

if boost is fine then it's probably your seals on your turbo going bad.

How about checking your oil return lines?

I had the same issue when I first got my aps installed and had to shortern the oil return lines per APS instructions

Thanks guys i appreciate the feedback.
Sorry about that i forgot to say what type (color) of smoke. It's blue-ish smoke so i've pretty settled on it's burning oil.
It's a new kit. I hope the seals are not going bad already. I only have about 2K miles on the car.
It only does it periodically. That's what is so confusing.
Glex ... thanks for that update. I am taking the car back to the shop soon so i'll have them check it out. This seems to fit the reason why it's doing it.

Was your APS kit the newer kind or did you buy it used with the older style turbos?

The newer turbos have been known to be inferior to the older turbos APS used to offer for our TT kits. You may want to look into this as well.

+1 I bet you anything it is your oil return lines. On my build we did custom return lines to avoid this issue...APS kits are known to do this. They actually advise you only to fill the oil until it hits the low mark on the dipstick due to larger oil pan capacity with the APS kit.

search for the word "crankcase" and "ventilation" over at my350z in the FI sub forum. you can also check out the end of my build thread there for a diagram on re-routing hoses for FI. If your plenum is coated with oil, then it's likely not your turbo seals.

I'm guessing it's a new kit. R/T just purchased it from APS in June. APS did however tell them that they were not offering the Tuner kit anymore, but they did have enough to put together one more for me.
I'm hoping that it's the oil return lines. It doesn't do it every day or all the time. Only when i'm sitting in traffic. Hopefully it's just that.
I only have 2000 miles on the new system.
