Dyno Tuning Session on Stock Block

Well finally got the car back to the tuner.
I was putting down 427whp on a cool day @ 8psi with meth.

Installed:
3.5" downpipes
CJM Stage 1 Fuel Return System
DW 600CC Injectors
Some modification to the swirl jet in the gas pump assembly
Haltech EMS with AIT Sensor and Boost Solenoid

New numbers are 457WHP@8.5psi with meth still on stock block after almost 3 years.
I like to thank Eric for hanging with me the whole day and taking the video and the
guys at theshopct.com. My tuner Junior and the owner Jimmy.

Nice Glex. You are my hope. Now that I just bought a house my passion for car is waning. I'm so close to parting out with the car and just getting a new SUV. You my friend give me hope that one day I'll get that passion back. I may one day follow your route once I'm ready to build my motor.

You and XKR may single handedly be stimulating the import aftermaret industtry!!! Can't wait till its all done!!!

str8dum1 10-24-2009 12:18 PM

those are HUGE turbos! bigger than even what SP is using on their 8sec drag car. THey are only using 67mm ones.

edit, you are getting 53mm turbos, not 71. should be a fun street car.

Took the block apart today and dropped it off at the machine shop.
The rod journal at the furthest most from the oil pump is scorched but not scored but from oil starvation.
I tried taking the best pics I could to show the damage.

We took measurements of the rod journal where the con rod bearings go and the one that suffered from oil starvation has a 1/1000th difference to the other rod journals.
Good one read 2.0455
The bad one reads 2.0445

I might be in the market for a Crankshaft.
I called Weston Machines they said they had some but then found out they didn't.
I contacted Kyle and he didn't have any either.

Anyone know anyone else who I might contact for a Crank?

Everything else looks good.

Thanks goes out to 1cockyz for helping me today take the block apart and take the measurements.

wow awesome build thread! congrats!

Look at those rods. The new ones look way thicker. Youve gotten yourself into some deep s**t man. I hope everything works out. I only wish I had a reliable machine shop around MD.

I think that is as good as it's going to get.
I was doing this last night with the garage door open and then a storm came in and had to
close the garage door, I still smell like gas today lol
I still have some gasket material in the throughput holes on the upper oil pan.
I'm going to try some acetone on a small film of gasket material I still have on the lower oil pan.

Anyone seen the white gasket material the factory uses on the lower oil pan? ewwww

Ordered a Crank from Vinnyten
Right now it's just a waiting game on the machine shop

The car is still in Connecticut.

Doing the motor in NJ then taking it to CT
and move the turbo kit and everything else over
while the engine bay is getting painted.

Nice bro I can't wait to see it all done. I'll have some pics up of mine by next week. I just insured her again this week. 1400 for the year!

I'm running a 50/50 mix (Meth/Distilled Water)

The meth kit comes with its own controller which sprays the mix linear from 2psi all the way up to 9psi (The controller has a Fully Integrated MAP Sensor 0 to 30 psi). Once I go higher with the WHP I will turn it on to spray more or I will have to get a bigger nozzle if it exceeds the amount the nozzle can spray which is no biggie.

This is from my last dyno tune with meth

Oopsies. Looks like you accidentally bought the Haltech for the 350z. It's a common mistake. Since you already opened it, and you may have loaded a virus a on it.. I'll take it off your hands for free (you can't just discard them in the trash, you know, Mercury and ****). I'll PM you my address.

(Hehe. Looks awesome...)
