Relapse
I just wanted to tell everyone that I’ve relapsed. Yup I’ve started down the FI path again. This time I’m doing something a little different. I’m ditching the SC and going TT. I’ve turbo charged cars in the past so I don’t think I’m going into this wild goose chase for power completely blind. I’m going to try to keep a budget on it this time. I think I can get my car TT powered, tuned, and ready to run with $6,000 bucks with a $1,000 unexpected cushion.
Peep my game plan:
I’ve recently purchased my turbo manifolds, TT FMIC, Charge pipes, dump tube, and down pipes all brand new in the box for $2,300.
(Thanks to Tim @ SFR on that one!)

^ That's what my setup should look like, just with different turbos and wastegates.
I’m not going to go with uber expensive turbos’ so I figure $500 bucks a piece - $1,000.00 if not I’ll be hitting up EBay. I know everyone is against the “cheap china turbos” but here’s how I look at it. A good turbo that cost about $1,100.00 is going to last maybe 3 years of rough driving. So I figure if I buy a cheap EBay turbo for $100.00 bucks, which should last for a year (speaking from experience) I should have 11 good years of boosting for $1,000.00.
*here come the flames*
I’m still up in the air about the EMS but as of right now I’m thinking Osiris - $800.00
The tune will be done @ FT - $600.00 give or take $200.00 bucks
I’m going to build my own return fuel system, I’ve priced out everything and it should run me about $600.00 bucks; that’s including fuel rails, fuel pump, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, lines and all fittings.
I already have a synchronic bov. – free
But my waste gates will run me about $300 a piece. - $600.00 (Synchronic Waste gate’s)
Injectors - $600.00
Plugs - $100.00
Hopes and dreams about not blowing a motor – Priceless!
If my plan goes the way that I want it to I should be able to save close to 2K if not more. I know it would probably be a hell of a lot easier to just buy a kit but I think I’ll get more out of doing things this way. Plus I’m not really a “kit” type of guy… Anyhow I’ll keep y’all posted on how this goes. Cross your fingers and wish me luck.
