Best DIY kit?
do you want to turbo or supercharge your car?
if supercharged, the vortech system with V3 blower (no tapping oil pan) is a very straightforward install. clearances are tight between the radiator fans & timing cover, so you can help yourself out by getting slim fans.

I know everyone is gonna bash, but the Stillen SC is easily the most DIY, and maintnence free kit you can get. No tune needed, no tweaking anything, no lines to tap for oil or coolant. You don't even need to jack up or get under the car!
If you can change a belt, remove your upper plenum, and do basic wiring, you can install it!!
Did mine with basic tools, with tons of breaks, by myself, in 8 hours in my apartment parking lot!

Not very many people like the Stillen, due to the lack of performance. Boosted Performance had a single turbo kit that is supposed to be very easy to install and I think the cost is $5500 or so. Contact him he is a sponsor on here other than that STS or a Vortech may be the best options for you
All depends on what the OP's goals are. And how much he's willing to spend to do it right.
OP.....if you go with a kit that causes you to have to tap into your pan. You can always get an AAM oil pan spacer. It adds a quart of oil and has holes tapped in the side already.
Im looking to run a low boost, but I want expandability. I dont want to make it a DIY because I can save cash from having someone else to do it, I just want to do it because I will think it would be pretty fun project for weekends etc.
Supercharger or turbo doesnt matter.
Do these kits come with an EMS already tuned for the specific setup?

It does not, however, offer expandability though. Unless you start off at stage one and work your way up, but that would be a finincial mistake (i know, because that's what i did, lol) Some have gotten rid of the SS box and did a stand alone with meth injection, and had good results. But as arrived, from Stillen, it's only expandable up to stage 4.
It all depends on how long you want your car to last, and how much driveability you want. Lets be honest, 95% of us want what you want, to add FI, and not have to spend thousands in supporting mods to build up the engine so that it can handle it safely for years to come. Or to pay for someone to do it, and have the car down for a week or two. That's why i suggested this kit. People are right. it doesn't offer ***** to the wall performance, but 120ish extra hp over stock still feels pretty nice. And having instant torque and power because it's a positive displacement blower is alot of fun too!!
I think, thanks to all the members that have gone through trial and error, you should be able to find out what you need to do to run safely with any type of FI on your car. Learn from others mistakes!!
But remember, a good rule of thumb is, to do it CORRECTLY(Supporting mods, and engine build in most cases), the more power you want to put down, the deeper in your pockets you are gonna have to dig. Otherwise if you want mad power, without putting forth the effort, prepare to suffer the consequenses shortly down the road. Don't be a ricer and just strap on two turbos, and call it a day!! lol
Take your time deciding what you want, and get what YOU want. I didn't listen to the masses, and i loved my setup because it had everything I was looking for. Go to my350z.com for ideas too. Remember, under our hoods both our cars are the same!
My350z.com has alot more FI info you will not find many people over there that would tell you anything good about a Stillen SC. Go do some reserch on my350z and decide what works best for you and your power goals.

You sir are full of pure win
Oh and what ever kit you get if it comes with an EMS please go get it tuned or at least get the tune checked by a reputable tuner on a dyno. Using a base tune that is in the EMS already is asking for issues.
