Went to the track last night...AND BROKE
The good news is I got my 12 second run...12.98@108 . I was at the end of a run...in 3rd [AT5] at about 6,800rpm I heard it miss fire and sputter . Its running real ruff and can tell 1 or 2 cylinders arent fireing . There is no smoke coming out of the tail pipe , no water in the oil . Im guessing...I floated a valve...coil packs went bad...or a spark plug .Taking it to the dealer Monday to get the bad news .....Now for the really bad news....the other owner of the car [ my girl friend ] says no more racing . She has been really great about me building this car . The car isnt paid for yet so I understand where she is coming from . I agreed and I said I wouldnt at least untill its paid for ...lol...I would love to put in new pistons and rods , but dont think I can afford it...still paying for the mods I got on it now.....Any idea's on what I broke ?.....Bill
Couldnt afford it when young...gonna play when Im old

Oh man Booger...this sucks! I had a problem with my 2000 Celica GT-S running real rough, not wanting to idle, and not going over 3500rpms. It was bent valves, at that time it was covered under warranty by Toyota but only because it was a common problem. Sorry to hear your g/f is peed off. Please share with us or call me when you find out what it is. What was your A/F at and where was your time? How many runs did you do, how long of a cool down did you have between them? Congrats on the 12 second pass, too bad you now have to deal with this.

I'll take the hood over all the headaches of other F/I kits out there. My Stillen ran flawlessly, and Anthony has no problems with it either.

that's what i'm starting to think. hearing the cars blow makes me think of doing the rods and pistons the same time that any FI system is installed. that would save alot of problems down the road.
we must say though, stillen hasn't had any problems to date that i can think of.

First...I dont think I Blew my motor Second...... If you dont have the ***** or the money to go FI ...you better just stick with what you have and be happy . When you add 130 to 150whp to any car your going to have to just take the chance and know it going in into it .Stillen's are haven problems....just not a blown motor....how could it...running pig rich....only making 70 to 80whp more . Now if you want to talk about Stillen SC...GO START ANOTHER THREAD . If you have some thing to add as to what happened to my car , or suggestions on what to check.....i would be greatful
