tt engine?

ok over the course of next year i am going to upgrade the internals so i can get a tt setup and not blow my engine.
so far, i am planning on getting XT-Pro 8.5:1 piston heads and crower billet rods. are these strong enough to handle a street tt G? and is there anything else i would need?
any help would be greatly appreciative

Re: tt engine?

yes, you can get a vortech to get 400rwhp...I'm only 12 shy...see my profile pics...as far as sound...when I rev really high in neutral or shift, it pppsssffffffff and sounds amazing! If you are in the SoCal area, we can meet up and play show and tell.

2 G or not 2 G, there's no question!

Re: tt engine?

as far as pistons go....if you're planning to run about around 400-500 whp then i would suggest 9.1:1 pistons. Anymore whp over that then the lower compression should be sufficient..just expect more time to spool up the turbos. I had ordered pauter rods because i have heard that they come perfect out of the box. Arias pistons are also the brand of choice for me =)

Re: tt engine?

Internals are a great thing and I suggest them but you can get a 375-400 hp car with it. You must make sure your tuner know what he is doing.

Re: tt engine?

The vortech emits a hiss sound constantly, that is true. Well not constantly but when the car is in vacuum/not in boost. You do get the psst sound but only at or near full throttle redline shifts because that's when a supercharger has boost to blow off. A turbo builds boost at a lower rpm so theres more oppurtunity for psst shifts.

If you're going to build your motor get a turbo, if you want to stay stock and somewhat safe get a supercharger. I think building your motor for a supercharger is a waste of funds. Unless it's a monster 20psi roots blower like on funny cars and pro-stockers, not the kits for our cars.

Re: tt engine?

Has anyone investigated the forged rods and pistons that Nismo recently released?

How do they compare with the popular names in rods and pistons?

Re: tt engine?

I agree, unless you have endless money do not put in a TT kit unless you plan on babying it or until you rebuild the engine, and TT kit will yield out the most HP and handle much more power with a fully rebuilt engine then a supercharger, but no one has done it yet. I know there are a few people turboing their cars, rebuilding and so on and expecting like 600-700 hp at the wheels, so im not exactly sure what your after! Go witht he PE TT kit, and the APS kit looks AMAZING, both great quality..

Re: tt engine?

thanks bro...the sound you heard on that vid is probably when the car is at low rpm's ...it sounds like a jet until under boost, then it shuts up and gets to biz!
