Really you need to get out more at least 4 I know of have made over 550whp. Not many survive long at over 550whp.

I was but that engine dropped a sleeve, I got sick of spending money on it so i dropped my stock engine with 60,000miles back in. I forgot the waste gates were set at 21psi so i have no choice but to run 21psi I was going to change them out Jim Wolf said it could be done with everything in the car but in his words "you will be f#*kin pi$$ed off trying to do it" so I thought it was a short term thing I set my rev limiter at 6500rpm and I fully expected it to blow up but it has ran great all summer this is the most I have drove my car in three years. I was going to re-build the 3.8L but I might leave the stocker in one more season, I havent decided yet.Originally Posted by Canadian

And everything I mentioned above contributes to no detonation.
I have heard audible detonation a couple times still alive!!! However the second I hear it i am off the throttle and the first time I heard it i thought I was done but it was ok still and I had another instance were I heard it since then my tuner and I have sorted things out. All that being said I would not recommend anyone that dosent fully expect to blow your engine up to try to run that kind of power. My tuner is a good friend of mine and he was not comfortable with tuning it at all i pressured him into it most tuners wouldnt attempt to go for that kind of power on a customer car because the chances of a failure are very high. We didn't tune it to make 600whp we tuned it to avoid detonation and ended up with those kind of numbers.
^sorry to hear that. Leave it open next time. You can go to 1000+whp and it's fine. You ran alot of power on it without methanol too. I had torque and whp reversed.

Those numbers were from my built engine we only tuned it to 5000 or 5500rpm I can't recall and we had yet to put the water/meth to it before I had the sleeve issues.
It's not necessary even for 1000+. The sunk sleeve is not the fault of the block, it's who installed it or Darton. Anyway, that SFR kit is only $6,799.99 for the tuner system without EMS or fuel system. Very good price.

Those intercoolers are small compared to the JWT. Mine span the entire duct opening of the stock bumper.

I am not sure who said sunk sleeves are the fault of the block
sunk sleeves are due to improper intallation. Before purchasing this kit you have a read of this guys experience. I have always thought highly of Tim but this seems like a train wreck, however I am sure they have done some quality control since then.http://my350z.com/forum/forced-induc...-with-sfr.html
.
You have to understand that a lot of people who see a sunk sleeve/spun bearing/blown motor AUTOMATICALLY blame the VQ and one of the most overstated statement is that "It wasn't mean for forced induction BLA BLA BLA" when the same exact motor/block was single turbo from the factory in Japan from 2001-2003.
I would have no problem adjusting the kit or making some custom fabrication myself with help to make it fit. That's what friends are for.
The guy in the thread didn't seem to be technically inclined and Tim did try to come through for him.
For the money it's an unbeatable deal. Cheaper than a 10k kit from SP which is vastly similar.

I have nothing against SFR or the kit. I just thought it is something he should be aware of if planning to purchase the kit. Like I said Tim has always seemed like a stand up guy and i am sure he would take care of you if you buy his kit. +1 on taking to str8dum1 and seeing what he has to say about his experiences with the kit although I think his kit is far from the standard kit.
