Ok...I'm in!!! (New Vortech Owner) Few q's

So, I took the plunge and, after being a gear head for almost 20 years, I finally decided to go FI. My setup is based on my 6MT 2005 G35 Coupe that was modded by the first owner and I purchased as a third owner (so I'm missing some details) and has the following mods:
AEM Cai
Kinetix V plenum
Headers (believe to be Stillen)
Tanabe Hyper Medallion Exhaust
Flashed???

My SC setup will include the following:
Vortech Supercharger w/3.12 pulley (rev-up + polished)
Cobb Access Port ECU
Deatswerks 650CC Injectors
Step one colder spark plugs
AEM Wide band gauge + Sensor
Defi:
boost/oil pressure/oil temp & Sensors
& Defi Control Unit II

Other mods I'm adding:
Oil Catch can
Oil Cooler

This car is my daily driver but will probably see 8-10 track days a year so I plan to stick with whatever power it makes with what is listed.

My questions are:
1. Do I need a tranny cooler?
2. I'm buying the SC kit used so I don't have the necessary fuel pump. Can the regular Walbro fuel pump that's available be mounted in line like the install of the kit calls for? Can I instead change it for the OEM pump in the tank? Will that be enough fuel?
3. As for the Cobb. I know they have preset MAPs for DL on the site but, will they prepare a custom MAP based on my specs?
4. PICS!!! I'd love to see those Vortech setups! In particular, I'm interested in oil/tranny cooler locations.

I think the setup looks sufficient, although i thought Cobb stopped supporting the VQ platform. Not sure if many have used it for FI application. Regardless, i'd suggest looking another tuning route like uprev custom tune, which seems to be the hype now. I'm running utec and it works fine for me.

Thanks for the quick reply. With the UTEC, is it a matter of plugging it in and taking the car in to get tuned? Can it be done DIY?

Tunes should be left to pros. Utec is a good choice. I suggest a fuel return a long with a walbro255lph pump

I was thinking about the fuel return. Thought it might be overkill at this power level but thanks for the suggestion, I might do it anyhow. One more thing on cooling...I've read upgrading the radiator yields minimal additional cooling. Is it worth it? What would you suggest as a rad/fan/shroud combo that will fit and improve cooling substantially?

I would do a mishimoto. Also when you said 650cc injectors I thought you were aiming for more. 440 is good enough

Yep. I agree. Those injectors came with the kit I got. So you're saying that the fuel return's not really necessary?

A tranny cooler is not required for a 6mt, Warbro sells replacement 190lph or 255lph pumps get one. Stay away from utec, a COBB will work but you will likely need to take it to a COBB licensed tuner to custom tune it. After market rads cool better than the stock one, although it wouldn't be required to make your set up work.

***** I better sell mine then

for your goals it is not required but it does have its benifits, such as even fuel distribution and the tuner will likely find it easier to tune and have better drivability.

Sounds like the kit I was going to buy, it's a great setup. I hope to join the vortech club later next year. You're on your way to a pretty sweet G. Congrats!

Semi-thread jack... would 440cc injectors be sufficient for 400+whp?

Make sure you get a new clutch and flywheel. I read every where that our stock clutch could handle the vortech torque, but they were wrong, after having the vortech supercharger for 2 months, my clutch couldn't handle the extra torque. I just got a competition stage 4 clutch and light flywheel installed today. Trust me, get everything done together, or else it will cost you more later on. Also change all the belts as well, and if you want to get your engine parts polished, get those done in one go.

Thanks for all the replies guys! Here's a list of all further mods I'm committed to above the ones I listed above:
JWT Clutch and light weight flywheel
I'll use the in tank Walbro 255

I'm not going with the fuel return as I'd rather invest in more engine safety in a thicker radiator and slim fans. The Stillen radiator is on sale and claims a 50% more efficient cooling. I can't find slim fans anywhere that are bolt on. Any thoughts?

A member on the forums thats local had to get a fuel return kit for his (it kept sending him into limp mode), he is running also 440cc injectors.

440cc injectors are capable for 400hp. CJM stage 0 would help you for that extra stability.

Heres a helpful guide
