Paint FMIC?

I have the Greddy FMIC, I am wanting to paint black to keep the stock G35 sleeper look.
What typr of black paint would be safe? Not clog the fins on the cooler? I am thinking about the heat paint (like for grills)??

Re: Paint FMIC?

I don't think you can use normal paint, as it would act as an insulator to the IC metal and decrease cooling ability. It needs to be a thermally conductive paint/coating to dissipate heat from internal air.

Re: Paint FMIC?

Just use a flat black paint. It makes no appreciable difference in efficiency. I painted the FMIC on my 240sx black and it worked fine. If you are totally concerned with it, there are some automotive coatings out there that are designed for this type of application. But there was a test posted online somewhere that showed painting the intercooler was fine. Unless you are using so much paint that it reduces airflow, don't put too much thought into this.

Re: Paint FMIC?

I had planned to try basic flat black Krylon.

Re: Paint FMIC?

Bini2 sent his Greddy FMIC to the same place I had mine done.

Here are a few pics of the IC and some of the ceramic coating that was done.
