Re: stillin supercharger stage 1 & 2

The extra stage.

Seriously, do a search or just go to stillen's web site and read up on this stuff. You've asked several questions in the last few days, most of which have been covered MANY times in the past, with one new one that made me chuckle. It appears that you are either you trying to cause trouble (like a troll) or you're one of the most outspoken and uninformed "newbies" on any forum I've seen in years. There are SEARCH functions for a reason... (sorry if I'm coming across as harsh, but "FOR THE LOVE OF GOD..." -in my best possible Chris Farley voice)

boost head question

individual throttle body question

horsepower from a water pump question

port and polish head question

And my personal favorite… Crank Scraper

Someone please take a photo from my profile and make me a cool sig...

Re: stillin supercharger stage 1 & 2

I did check out the stillen web stie but they don't list what the kit includes, all they wrote stage 1, stage 2 with intercooler and stage 3 with a different pulley, to me it seems that it's just the intercooler but paying $2,400 for a intercooler seems kinda crazy.

i'm with neffster on this one... i'm not sure if i should take you seriously. but on the odd chance that you are serious, the kit comes with everything you need for the supercharger. like you said, 1st stage is supercharger, 2nd adds intercooler, 3rd adds pulley. and you're right, it is crazy to pay $2400 for an intercooler. that's why stillen only adds about $1400. thank goodness they are not crazy.

Silly question:

"IF"

1) I get a stage I without intercooler.

2) I buy a carbon fiber hood and go insane with it. Cut a large window where the S/C unit lies and put a moderate size air scoop on the window.

3) Then custom radiator fins on top of the supercharger unit to cool down the air. Sort of combine the intercooler with the S/C.

Now then: Wouldn't I theoretically achieved Stage II with Stage I hardware and a better looking hood? I am probably just talking non-sense because it's 4am and I really hate the Stillen hood. Still - is that a possibility?

No you wouldn't achieve the same as stage 2 because, an intercooler cools the air moving into the engine. Your idea doesn't achieve this because you are directing the air with the fins to cool the SC, but not the air going in. I think the stage 2 would have been my choice had I went that route.

I don't really care about the extra $$$ associated with intercooler, but I absolutely loathe the stillen hood design. I have seen it on Gs and it looks horrible on lighter color cars like mine. The Stillen hood works pretty well with the Z, but not with the G at all.

Does my car look that bad?
I do have a reliable 340whp(SC alone) & 400whp(w/n2o) that I drive everyday.I can deal with the hood for the power.

Wes, car looks good and I've seen it in person. On darker cars the odd shaped hood doesn't stand out so much as on lighter cars (silver, white, light blue or diamond graphite) The 350Z has the natural raised ridge on the hood so it actually looks decent with the hood. The G35C is a different story.
