Calling all Turbonetics people!!!!!
Calling all Turbonetics people!!!!!
Hey everyone,
Really close to pulling the trigger on a turbonetics single turbo kit.
I just wanted to know people's experience with them, what issues they've had, what kind of numbers they are putting down, what supporting mods you did, what psi you were pushing, what size injectors you used, if you upgraded the fuel pump, and what tune you used.
Im new the game of F/I and dont know as much as I would like and iv been reading up on some threads over the past few weeks but id still love more information. So any other advice you can lend is welcome.
My goals are a safely built set-up pushing 375+ whp
current list of engine mods:
Kinetix SSV manifold
Lightweight Crank Pulley
helix Test Pipes
Ark Grip Exhaust
ACT lightweight flywheel/ Stage 2 clutch
AAM tune
(most mods came with car)
The kit I am looking at is a gently used (2k miles) turbonetics single kit with 750cc injectors, htm 0 fuel lines, and walbro 255 fuel pump.
I plan to have it installed by JDS motoring out here in NJ and using a uprev tune...
Any analysis of this kit or other supporting parts i should look into please let me know. Thanks for the input everyone.

You have picked the single worst turbo kit out on the market. There is a lot of "bad experience" threads here and on 350z.com with this kit. I would strongly suggest you consider something else. There is a reason the person is selling it after using it for only 2,000 miles.

The kit was installed last summer and the guy only put 2k miles on the car since and he was only running 5psi.
The common issues, i hear, come from a failed seal or something within the snail itself and I also understand that turbonetics has good customer service and will cover repairs to the turbo (does anyone have experience with their customer service?)
other issues that arise come from people pushing to much pressure with stock motors. I dont plan on being one of those peoples. My goals are small, not trying to build a 500+hp drag monster.
but i understand there are better kits out there... but thats why i made the thread i want to hear people personal experince... other than "they are bad" do you have any other info? or can you point me to those bad threads?
I've had my Tnetics single turbo kit for over 15k miles. Oil & Water Cooled. Ball barring. 440cc injectors. 255 walbro pump. Custom ECU flash though not the turbonetics bs flash.
No problems at all.
I would highly recommended wrapping all exhaust pipes with heat wrap and also all surrounding hoses.
PM me if you need more tips or additional info.

No it is known as the worst turbo kit period and next to Stillen as the worst forced induction kit for our platform.
Turbonetics quit selling the kit long ago and when they did the support was poor now there is no support. The issues that are very common are pipes breaking, AC lines blowing and the turbos are very problematic some guy have went through 3-4 turbos on the kit. The Engine management is also poor and many failed engines have resulted from this. The initial up front cost may be cheap but many people have become frustrated with the constant issues they have once the kit is on.
I have been in the FI sections of several forums for this platform for the last 6 years and seen many guys at their wits end due to all of the issues with this kit so if you trying it.....good luck.

im running the tn kit on my g. i also have plenum spacer, 775cc inj, deatchwerks fp, uprev tune, and custom single exhaust. the kit is not all that bad. i havent had any issues with it so far. the install of it was a pita i will admit that. the turbo spools quick and the car moves at only 8 psi. if you do go with it definitly get a custom tune and dont rely on their reflash. also make sure the fuel pressure regulator is modded according to the instal instructions. if you dont you will run into fuel issues. happy boosting
Thanks for the inputs so far. Iv pmed a few ppl as well, and with the direction I want to head in I think it will be a safe bet.
Iv heard wrapping hoses multiple times, so that is on the check list. my tune will definitely be custom using an uprev... but i see alot of people (alot more 350z) using utec. Is there a major difference in using a utec vs the uprev?

do you know if they would swap a turbo? I found out the turbo coming with the kit is the standard and I would like to upgrade. and for the price im getting the kit at I wouldnt mind spending a few dollars extra on a better turbo. so do you know if they do that?
