I agree but the roots stillen is maxed out so its worthless( to me ) to get a tune for that under powered kit.

how is it maxed out on the can tune? You can aways run more PSI no? I knew is SC is the older style ( Roots) But what stage is it, I think "Their" STG4 is Still only 7-8 PSI, My Stock kit sees 9-10 PSI. Before my tune the car made 342 WHP( 42 over what I was NA) REALLY,

After tune and only smoothnig the AF's out and timing the car made 412WHP Same PSI? Just a fact a can tune is that, One car made a tune for everyone, Makes no sense, Every car is different, I good Starting point yes but to run it everyday is asking for trouble. Just upgrade the pulley add the fuel and go, If Stillen says they dont make another pulley find your own, They told me they made a 10PSI ( I would see 1-1.5 more PSI than I do now).. The sales guy never called me back, This was last week, So I talked to guy and made my own pulley upgrade, When all is said and done I should be @ 12PSI and close to 480 WHP I hope, Really shooting for 500 WHP( GTM can get their on 12 PSI why not me)..

Thats just asking for trouble. Even if the stillen kit is underpowered and the performance gains are measly compared to every other FI option for our cars you are still fundamentally changing the engine dynamics and need a tune.. To not is just ignorant and irresponsible

You do NOT have the same SC we're talking about.. You have a vortech with new pipes and a stillen sticker on it

I had the stillen kit since 2003 in all the stages and never found it necessary to need any kind of tune other then what it came with.I was going to pursue a custom tune but was told by many here and over my350z that the blower was maxed with the psi it produced and would blow only hot air after 8 psi.

I say after all those years with the stillen and its canned tune the kit did alright and the custom tune would not have given much more power.I am not trying to say dont get FI tuned as that is foolish......i am just referencing the sh!tty stillen blower as it was way to small to be put on a vq.

I Would be more concerned about the A/F and such than max power, I agree completely that It's physically incapable of making more power so regardless of what "stage" you've got you can't just turn up the boost..

Curious did you ever check out the canned tune on a dyno?

Yea and it wasnt what i hoped and i dont have the dyno sheet anymore but it was iirc 339wrhp and 318rwt.That is what made me get rid of the kit and went with the Greddy twins and whats funny is on a 6 psi tune i blew those numbers away.

From: Waltham Ma,
Seymore, I know that, LOL but still with the roots style are then pulley changes to add boost

But I see what he is talking about, I just spent the last 30 mins looking for STG 4 numbers and saw only up to 340 WHP.

Yeah 340 is pushing it too. The units just not efficient enough to make any good power, that's why stillen basically threw in the towel and partnered with vortech for the new kits.
