What gauges do I NEED for the vortech

About to place my order with Paul and want to know what else I should get for the Vortech kit. Should I get the oil pan spacer? Boost, ect?????

Honestly, I don't have any gauges and haven't since the system went in. It's been in for 5,000 miles and no problems other than belt slippage which was fixed by a thicker main belt (GATES). Call me if you want to discuss anything else regarding this system. 310.818.1875...Randy

I think a boost gauge and an A/F gauge are extremely helpful, especially with the Vortech kit.

dont waste your money unless its a Wideband gauge

Agreed. Wideband 02 is essential. I have the AEM.

The nice thing about the Vortech kit is that if you have a A/F gauge, a boost gauge, and a laptop you can tune it yourself.

thats an incorrect statement, i have the greddy boost gauge, now granted it isnt a wideband, but it is calibratable, and it matches the dynos meter perfectly, cant beat that. even with a wideband.

Im a little lost. You have a greddy boost gauge that you can calibrate and cross check it whith the dyno.

I think he was refering to a wideband air/fuel gauge like the EUGO made by AEM which has a wideband Oxygen sensor(much better than crappy stocker)to monitor your A/F and make sure your exhaust temperatures dont rise to a dangerous level. High exhaust temps are a sign of your car running on the lean side which eventually causes detonation. KABOOM!

Running a exhaust temperature gauge(w/probe) or a Air/feul gauge (w/wideband O2) like the AEM are what a large majority of people use on a forced induction car.

If your into guages and monitoring different things these would be the ones to get:
1.Exhaust temp or Air/fuel w/wideband O2 sensor
2.Vacuum/boost gauge
3.Oil pressure
4.Water temp
These should cover the basic gauges needed if your into monitoring your stuff.

DO NOT get the crappy A/F gauge that just bounces a light back and forth. It does not come with a accurate wideband O2 sensor so it would only be for looks.

That does look very interesting. Might have to look into this a little further.

I would DEFINATELY consider a fuel pressure guage with the Vortech. With the aux pump and issues with hoses coming off its only a matter of time till someone blows an engine up (or worse catches the car on fire) from the hose popping off while crusing down the highway!
