What turbos are y'all replacing your g18s with?

Hey guys,

Very happily making 557rwhp, but my g18s are getting older. I was thinking about ditching them and picking up a new pair, I'm not really looking for more power... My spool up isn't horrible- but it isn't crazy good either.

Is there a go-to pair of turbos you guys replace your g18s with?

Selfishly, I'd like something a little louder, these g18s are pretty quiet -- I'd really not like to completely tear about the piping and kit as well, so something in the neighborhood of the same size is appreciated.

I was a kid when I bought this kit, and didn't really do any research on the actual turbo chargers. These things have seen some tough days, but there has to be better tech out from 6-8 years ago, ya?

I'm going to want to hit about 600-620rwhp with this set up. Just highway pulls and zipping around town.

Thanks guys.

I assume you mean 18Gs, obviously 20Gs are a larger replacement but ball bearing are better turbos so a GT28 would be a nice replacement but they are also liquid cooled where as the Greddy turbos are only oil cooled. Liquid cooled is better but in your case it means you have to tap the cooling system and run coolant lines. 20G would be the upgrade that's easiest to do, spool will be slower but you will make more power age old question is more peak power worth slower spool??

18g will easily make 700+whp.

they should also be fully in by 3800 rpms or so. you can also have bugger wheels machined into the stock 18g housing. but since you can already make 700+ on those turbos, no sense in changing anything.

sounds like you need them rebuilt and retuned.

I went from T25 to 16G to 20G to Holset HX35. LOVE those things. But I agree, it sounds like you just need a rebuild.
