Vibration with vortech

Hey,

I was wondering if anyone has, or has noticed any weird vibrations comming from there vortech kit. Its not comming from the vortech unit it self but it seems like vibrations are comming form the mounting plate area, and i can actually hear it from the inside of my car. I checked everything, and everything seems to be tight. So i was wondering if this is normal? Any ideas?

Thanks

I would get a noise and vibration at idle. The bolt behind the blower was loose.

Yeah, I'm getting the vibration during idle, I'll check the bolt behind the blower as well.

It is only one bolt. It is in the middle on the oposite side of the air filter. There is a piece of metal on the wheel wheel directly in front of it. My bolt was making contact with this metal. This seems to be a common problem with the vortech.

I'll tell you what it is...it's the pipe that dives down into the engine bay behind the blower...it's rattling against the body...I have this problem and JDM V35 had it too...he crawled under there and slipped a piece of rubber or something between the body and the pipe and VOLA, the sound went away.

Yup that was the problem. I was under the car re-tightening the tensioner and I started to look around and check for things and I noticed it was touching the body of the car. So for now I just cut a piece of a rubber mat out and just stuffed it in there untill I can find something better to replace it with.
BTW thanks for the heads up on the PM i sent you!

I dont have that problem, when I installed the kit I cut a piece of rubber, thanks to Randy in other threads. BUT I would like to hear another kit to see if things sound the same. At idle it sounds like grinding. Just doesnt sound right. Anyone else have this?

Grinding? Be more specific, where does it sound like it's coming from? Can you hear it more when you open the hood or is in predominately heard from inside the cockpit (heheh, I said **** and pit)..sorry, a Beavis moment.

EDIT, Steve, call me. I think I know what it is...310.818.1875

Yeah, I also have that grinding sound at idle occasionally. It seems to go away and come back. I can actually hear it from the inside of my car at times. Anyone know what the solution is to fix it?

I had two things that rubbed occasionally:

- The back of the 9-lb pulley bolt (the one that spins) would hit the intake tube and nearly wore a hole in it. This only happened when the engine rocked slightly at WOT.

- The driver-side belt (power steering? not the one replaced by the serpentine belt) would rub on the intake piping behind the front bumper.

There's a vibration that I get from the pulleys or something at low idle only. Vortech told me this was normal and was due to the jackshaft bearings.

Doc, there's a sound you get when the cog belt is too loose or too tight that is amplified when either one of these is the case. There should only be about a 1/4" of play (up and down) on the cog belt. This will minimize the rattle. As far as the pipe rubbing the body, that was discussed above^^^...and there's one more place to check. Where your IC is installed, make sure it's not rattling against the main bumper brace...mine was and it drove me nuts!
