Woohoo!!! Got the G back finally...(vortech/pics inside)

So yea, I finally got my car back last saturday...I haven't got on it yet, I'm gonna wait a bit...I'll probably drive for like 1k miles (currently at 450 since saturday lol) and take my car back and get it dyno'd and tuned...I can't wait to find out my numbers...I hopeing at least 375whp, if i'm lucky.

Re-cap on the mods for those of you who don't know:

Vortech Supercharger (8lb Pulley)
Edge Racing Torque Converter
Technosquare Upgraded ECU (L-Spec Flash)

BTW, my belt is already sounding like its slipping, in the mornings when I start it up or after it has sat for awhile and I start it up, I hear a loud screech for about a minute then it goes away...so its slipping right? I think I found the solution searching around here but I just want to make sure...I just need to replace my serpentine belt with the Gates K060935 belt right? and how difficult is it to replace? what tools are needed? Thanks.

Here's some pics...enjoy!

Very nice!

I've been toying with the idea of FI. I have a stupid question: How do you change the air filter? From the pictures it looks like there is zero room to remove it.

Thanks

hahahah wow your good lol...if I saw this somewhere else I would of never guessed where it was, theirs so many signs like this in Houston lol...

Thanks for the comments everyone...yea I love my ol' school Racing Harts M5's, they look alot nicer in person...and as for the filter, they said its very difficult but the shop said they could do it for me, and also I will have some sorta review up soon and hopefully I can get a vid of the Dyno pull up also.

btw, I took my car to Carboy in Houston, very helpful and very knowledgable...Jackie is tha sh*t, I've known him for a good while now...he knows alot about cars and trust him with my car completely...I wanted to go to SGP Racing but those guys were sorta rude and not very helpful at all, oh well...I trust Carboy alot more anyways...I guess a young guy (25) like me driving a $35k+ car doesnt gain you any respect...let that be a lesson I guess.

Carboy was one of the originals in Houston for import performance. Very knowledgable staff.

Wow congrats. Your car is looking great. How do you enjoy the "whine" coming from the engine bay?

John,

Was the torque converter recommended? How much was it for the TC?
I'm still mulling over this option and am in your neck of the woods...
If you don't mind me asking... who did the install and what was the total cost?
I have an AT, so I'm looking at the same path.

Thanks in advance.

Actually I decided to do the TC upgrade on my own, I figured that over time with my vortech my tranny will take its toll if I didnt do it...I could be wrong but at least I took some precaution, It'll save me some expensive repairs in the long run...plus my take off and shifts should be a lil firmer now but I'll see in the following weeks after my break-in. I wanna do the valve body upgrade also but I'm a lil short on cash now so that might have to come in another lifetime haha...

the TC was about $375 w/o shipping cost there and back...which was about $25 each way...so a total of $425 for the TC without labor cost and downtime, you figure about $65-75 per hour depending on the shop, I'm not sure exactly how long it takes cause it was all done at the same time, so I can't give you exact figures as far as labor goes. Just call Carboy and find out the labor cost and downtime, their number is 713-271-9638...same as when they first opened years and years ago lol

if u wanna go for a ride after my break in jus PM and ill give you my cell and we can meet or maybe we should setup a g35/350z meet somewhere...

as for the whine, it's craaazy, sounds like a jet engine at times and then a UPS truck lol and then a 18 wheeler at times haha...but I love it, it definitely turns heads...now I gotta solve this belt issue...any thoughts???

Get that belt tightened, you'll ruin the belt quick if you don't. Did you get a boost guage? Are you making boost? To adjust it you need:

1 14mm socket
1 12mm socket 1/4" drive
1 torque wrench

There is an idler pulley just to the left and below the crank pulley. Loosen the 14mm nut on the front of it. Just loose, not off. Then take your 12mm 1/4" drive socket and go below the pulley and straight up. The bolt is actually completely vertical behind the pulley. You will want to tighten the bolt behind the idler and you'll feel the belt getting tighter. When the tensioner bolt is tight, tighten the front nut to 25 ft lbs (very important to get this right) and start it up. You should have no belt flappage when the car is idle. Once you get that worked out, you'll make boost and not shred your belt. Good luck, pm me if you want my number if you get stuck.
