ECU question

This might be a noobie question so dont flame me(too hard anyway). I got a junkyard ecu and heard that if i plug it into my car it will not start becuase of some specific programming/code done to each ecu for each car. Can someone fill me in on this and how/if it could be fixed. thanks!

Edit: Posted on FI cuase looking to get it reflashed for ATI procharger instead of my stock ecu.

I won't work until you reprogram it for the chip in your key.....the anti theft device.

yes, take all your keys and the new ECU to the dealer and they can make them work. I don't know how much they charge for this.
