There may bea much better option. First, i've had a lot of problems with stealin'(Stillen). I had teh very first production supercharger kit for the Maxima. After a year of development, it took them 2 more months to fit that parts like the hoses and mouning bracket to get in on the car adn 2 more months to get it running right. Then they sold me a set of warped rotors for a CRX I had as a project car. I sent them back and the were magically "lost in shipment." I protested the charge and the exact same set of warped rotors that were lost magically were shipped back from Stillen. They still don't admit to finding them. I packed the box back up, took it to UPS and told them I refused the receipt. I got my money back, but I will never trust Stealin' again.

Fortunately, it looks like we are going to have a much better option anyways. ATI is working on a Procharger kit for the 350Z. The final information will be released in a couple of weeks. Running just 4.5 psi of boost, their test car did a 13.1 @ 107.6. At 7 lbs of boost, it put down 369 hp to the wheels. They are trying to got up to 10 psi if it is reliable. The goal was 10 psi for the final kit and they are expecting 400-420 rwhp bolt-on. While they aren't initially doing a G35 kit, it shouldn't be hard to adapt it. Wouldn't you rather have a G35 as fast as a Z06?

When the Procharger test car was taken to the track, it was running a pulley that set the peak boost to 4.5 psi. The dyno was done later when a smaller pulley was on the car at 7 psi. They are doing a second install this week and there should be test information on it shortly. The 369 hp is at the wheels and note how smooth the torque curve is for a centrifugal. It is surprisingly close to an LS6 torque curve. They were dynoing the car with a 8 psi pulley last week and some of the people who were there checking it out said it dynoed consistantly 378 hp to the wheels(350Z forums). If it makes 10 psi, it shoudl be over 400 hp at the wheels.

Keep in mind that Stillen has never done a roots blower kit. I was the unfortunate indvividual that purchsed the first production Vortech SC kit for a Maxima back in November of 1998. It took 2 months to get the parts right and another 2 months to get it tuned out. There were a lot of mistakes they made in development and I fixed everyone. From all my days of discussion with John Leister on the phone(Stillen's head developer), they are slow to respond and will never admit making a mistake. This makes me terrified to ever look at Stillen again. ATI has been putting kits together for years and has far more experience by comparison.

Roots superchargers make great low end torque but less top end power. That is because they have the worst compressor effeciency efficiency of any type of turbo of SC compressor. Centrifugal Superchargers increase boost as rpms build but have compressor efficiencies similar or higher than the newest turbo wheels. A Vortech V1 compressor has 76% efficiency while the roots blower on a Grand Prix has 60%. The basically means it heats the air a lot more. This limits the ability to increase boost. Both types of superchargers use up some of the power they generate since they are driven by the engine. A turbo on the other hand takes no power from the engine. ATI uses intercoolers with their kits and hence the reason why they make a lot more power for the same boost level. I suspect because of the compressor efficiency and intercooler efficiency, that the ATI kit at 10 psi would still be less stressful on the engine than the Stillen roots kit at 6 psi. Since if you are shifting close to redline, only the power above 4500 rpms matter; an ATI car should easily walk away from a Stillen car.
