Do tell

I'm in the same position as you and wondering what to do and what direction to go. Good thing fence sitting is one of my strong points I give you full points for making a decision to go the S/C route

It's tough trying to decide how to spend the monies to purchase performance options and planning a platform for the car. Any insider info would be appreciated.

My goal right now is to improve the performance of what I have and stay away from S/C or F/I till other parts are installed. I'm thinking the cams, springs, flywheel fuel management and LSD have more priority than the others. So at least when I go for more power, some of the support pieces will be installed.

You do what you feel is right for you . A SC is a good place to start to get into the F/I world . I did the same thing . You may later feel you need more power....and if you do... I wouldnt mess around with a ST set up . Go right for the TT set up . Im sure the ST's are very nice...but they are alot like the SC in power , with a more trq . Ive decided to stay with my Vortech for now and dont see changing it out any time soon . Ive built my motor , upgraded the blower , fuel system , cams , and have a few other things in the works for this coming winter . Dynojet numbers are around 455whp and 345trq. at 13.5psi and I havent addressed the timing yet , still pulling more than needed

Booger- (what a sexy name ) You're one of the main guys I've been following for quite some time now along with Ed (eagle1), and now Randy. It sure seems like if everything is tuned properly these S/C's are a lot of fun for a good bit of time.

Hopefully I won't regret the decision.

So...you going to have this put on in time for our dyno day? j/k

Congrats, Neff. For as long as I've known you, I knew one day you'd go FI. It was just a matter of when you'd get the clearance from the significant other to start your project. I talked to Ryan and he spilled the beans on how much you getting the Vortech for. Great price. Now maybe this time I'll actually get to drive a vortech supercharged car (your's ) instead of ride in one (esemes).

I hope everything goes great with your purchase and install.

^^^ You can drive it as long as it under different circumstances than the last time you drove it.

[START HIJACK]

My car is almost done, I'm down to waiting on parts again, namely my Koyo radiator, Samco hoses, and Python locks. If all goes well I'll be boosting this weekend on my fully built, APS TT powered G35!

hmm, actually, ive owned had both kits on my car, i took my vortech off for the aps kit that i just finished installing, so id say it again. for the money id get the aps kit, the things included in the kit make it far superior and the gains are better.

Tig,

You've been playing and swiming in the FI pool for quite a while now. I'm just sticking my toes in the water.

For a more conservative approach, I'm comfortable doing what I'm doing. If the G was paid off and I had another daily driver (paid off) I would do what you're doing but to the n'th degree. I'm SURE I'll be happy with this set up as I'm sure you're happy with yours.

I would disagree with you tig. I had a Procharger and I'm now installing a APS. If I only wanted 375 whp I would much rather have a supercharger, due to the $4000 price difference, and the much lower maintenance of a supercharger. I have a feeling I am going to be chasing oil leaks and boost leaks constantly now where as before I just had to make sure my oil was fresh and my belts were tight.

Just read article from Road & track,
4 FT 350Zs are compared,

1/4 mile
Vortech 13.0
Gready TT 13.4
Stillen 13.5
JWT TT 13.5

0-60
Vrtech 4.9
Stillen 4.9
Gready 5.0
JWT 5.5

Don't know why he JWT 0-60 so bad.

However, they said the "JWT felt the fastest, The Vortech doesn't feel as fast but put down the best numbers. "

that was directed at kooge not you neff. you need to make the right decision for yourself, i agree with that. just thought id shed some light on a system not experienced by many yet.

and KPierson, the single turbo is only $500 more than the sc, not $4000. Big difference in price and system.
