Any tips on how to hook up this kit?

Steve,

From what Ive seen the silver round bar mounts in front of your FMIC and I assumed all the NX kit did was spray over your IC hence cooling the air?? Does the kit actually spray into the motor, or is it similar to one of those IC water sprayer devices that cools the charged air rushing in??

I think it is just to cool the IC. Do they really work all that well? No offense, but it seems kind of ricey. Maybe, I am totally wrong, though.

They are not ricey at all - those Ntercooler sprayers will cool your intake charge (through the intercooler) by a good amount and have the same affect as "regular" NOS - giving you a serious boost in power - id guess like 40-50+...but im sure its addicting!!!! Have fun! Take pics and dynos and track times!!!

When you have a chance can you explain how spraying N2O on the outside of an FMIC can possibly have the same effect as a "regular" nitrous system? I am not downplaying the cooler - I think that they extremely effective and can significantly lower the intake charge temperature (although the ones that use CO2 are usually more economical in the long run, unless you have other uses for nitrous). I have seen reductions in IC temperatures in the order of 50 degrees or more (depending on how often you spray/cool the intertercooler) which do result in more power and lower ETs but nothing that will compare to a nitrous system.

Also, G352VN, try to be selective with the nitrous that you buy and (if you can) get medical grade; I was never fond of the smell of (or idea of) sulphur being sprayed on my car...

Unless you have the stock bumper, IMHO it is rice. I have the Greddy Gracer bumper and it would lose it's clean look of the intercooler with that on there. For the stock bumper and because of the lack of flow this is a must have almost.

Im no expert, but heres my take....

Quick Version...

Cooler air = more power

Forced induction systems work better with intercoolers

Intercoolers provide more cool air (hence on the front of the car w/ large opening)

N2o is wwaaaay colder than "regular air" which makes for better performance

combine the 2 (intercooler n N2o) and your going to get MORE COLD AIR to the right places...

I know this is super-dumbed-down, but i dont have time to write a dissertation on the science of n2o on an engine...

AM i totally wrong???

Cooling the intercooler is a great concept, but you'll only see a 40 HP increase if the N02 gets into the intake. My only concern with this system is that if some of the N02 makes its way into the intake (rather than acting solely as a cooling agent on the surface of the intercooler) you'll have to retune your SS box to account for the lean effect it will have on your A/F ratio.

The elliptical ring will hardly be noticeable to other people in traffic, IMO, so I'm not convinced that it will look rice.

You are absolutely right but only if you completely remove the whole N2O + Fuel = Power part of equation (which I think is a very important part)

I first saw this system on a car thats in sportcompact car this month. The car was at the place I got my tune so I had a chance to check it out. I saw REAL dyno slips from my tunner that showed a 45hp increase and this was just from cooling the IC. I switching to the smaller pulley and doing this at the same time. Once Im done Ill take it back to my tunner. As for the Rice part. You cant really even see the bar and the one I did see with the TS bumper was CLEAN! In the end its really not going to matter cause Im covering my IC with black mesh.

I definitely believe there was a 45HP increase. I also believe you're going to need to add fuel to prevent that increase (of which at least part was due to some of the N02 being sucked into the intake) from causing a detonation event.

How can something like the N/X intercooler kit be rice?!! Sorry but i dont agree, nor do i follow that...it WOULD be rice if you have NO IC and installed it...Ive seen this installed on R34's, S14s and a boosted E46 M3....

In addition to all that it DOES work, im just not sure how well!!

Steve... Have you tried calling Rob and asking him?
