Good find, I'm still leaning towards getting the APS TT setup. Still not 100% on it yet though, plus with winter coming up I might just wait until spring of next year.

I dont know if breaking a piston is blowing a motor . But I did ....Vortech at 9.5psi . Not pulling enough timing on a cool night at the track

Question Power Enterprise

Randy & Bill - Not trying to stir things up but didn't Gurgen blow his PE T/T ( more than once?? ). Gotta call G-man this weekend anyway so maybe he hasn't seen this poll yet.

Yes that counts. If you damage a rod or piston it is considered "blown" because it must be rebuilt. I snapped a stock rod with no detonation. Snapped because of too much low end torque.

I haven't read anything about a APS TT blown engine. I've seen several smoking issues but nothing like a thrown rod. All of those were self installed. And if there are blown APS TT engines, I'd like to see if they were originally installed by a authorized Unichip tuner. I seriously doubt it.

Well, the poll isn't exactly scientific, so some people are likely just voting something cuase they are idiots. I wouldn't look at exactly numbers but just use it for a guide. Like for example, you are going to blow your engine if you don't know what you are doing with the Greddy TT kit. The rest of them seem too minimal to matter. In most cases though, it is likely user error and not a faulty design. Even Greddy TT is user error... the kit the way it is sold is not good for high hp, you need to do work on it to get 400whp and have your motor be safe with 8-9psi boost.

I find it interesting that the second highest number of blown motors is the NA motors.

Yes. I'm not implying that no one has blown there motor with any of the kits that show ZERO...just out of the people who posted, zero Vortechs. Boog, you self-admittedly said that you weren't pulling enough timing...that was a tuning issue that YOU made. All of these other folks blowing their motors had their kit out of the box or were tuned improperly from the get go. Your case is the ONLY case I've heard of and it's clear that anyone who pull 4 degrees of timing at 6000 rpm or 9.5 lbs of boost (which is what I heard happen so if it's not what happen, simply correct me) with any kit on stock internals risks the chance of frying a ring (or bending a rod).

No, but we do run STOCK Vortech's. Just proud of the FI decision I made...don't hate...I love your set-up too.

that is weird...didn't notice that...maybe those were folks that had those mod AND an FI solution. Because the poll asked which kit you had and what psi or other mods you had...it said to choose two...

the poll is hardly scientific proof - it only contains votes of people who bothered to look in the thread and vote.
