Todd...I wouldnt worry bout your EGT's...you have a free-flowing system to say the least.....which is probably my problem

 

That plus I'm dumping more fuel than you (way more rich) so that should also help to cool thing off. :fingers crossed:

 

i agree, EGT gauge is imortant but not CRUCIAL. I think that eventhough other factors may have a direct effect on EGT, A/F is probably one of the MOST direct infulences on you exhaust gas temp. Keep a close eye of a/f, and you shouldnt have any problems. If you've got a tune and dont mess around with your settings once they are set, you can skip the EGT. If you're the kind of person that wants to tweak their car ALL THE TIME and messing with the fuel, get an EGT gauge to know whats going on. a Zeitronix is a nice thing to have because you can get an EGT bung, boost sensor, a/f wideband o2 sensor and it will display TPS as well. PLUS datalogging. mind you, its not as nice and it doesnt have all the bells and whistles as maybe the plxdevices R500 unit, but it gets the job done. You definately have some options to pick from. The parameters I'd monitor would depend on if it's a turbocharger or supercharger... and which manufacturer made it. With all I'd include an intercooler outlet air temperature gauge.

 

Sorry to bring this back from the dead, but since then, I've found a problem... I went ahead with the Autometer Nexus Gauges, Boost, EGT, and a seperate display for A/F so I need another gauge for the pod and now I'm having a hard time deciding what would be better. I'm going with a Turbonetics kit by the way. Just about 2 or 3 more weeks

Oil Temp - I know when I can get on it, or overheat, or have low oil.
Oil Pressure - I know if I spring a leak, compression problems or something along those lines.
Fuel Pressure - Maybe?

Well I know they can all infer a bunch of other things going on, but I'm leaning toward Oil Temp since I drive alot of miles, highway and city, and think that would be a good thing to monitor especially in hotter weather so I don't overheat or something. I would probably never take my car for auto x, but maybe a few time's a the strip might be called for. It seems there's alot of arguement over Oil Press vs Temp, so I just want to see what people think on here and for our cars.

 

I say get a water temp gauge the stocker sucks!
