with a turbo charger, does your exhaust note get softer? esp with an aftermarket exhaust?

The note will naturally be reduced because of the increased time the note spends circulating through piping. The turbo manifolds and the turbos temselves and then the downpipes, etc. will all work to deaden the sound a bit more before it exits the exhaust. Is the difference really noticable? Not a huge difference but you'll be able to tell it changed. It gets replaced by some different noises though (BOV, wastegates, turbo spool, etc.) There is a trade off.
