Need rims for turbo?

My friend was telling me to get rims if i get a turbo because my tires will keep slipping and i have a 17inch stock. He said i need wider tires is that true?Because he has a Greddy TT 350z and its pretty quick. Thanks

ASOLUTELY!!! It is not a must but if you want to have any chance of putting some of the power to the ground it is a damn good idea. At least 9.5's in the back 10's would be even better. The stockers are 8.5 with 245's on the back a good upgrade would be 9.5's with 275's on the back. Even better are 10's with 275's up to 295's. The crappy open differential will let the tires spin all day once you break them lose, so your best chance of scoring respectable times in the 1/4 mile would be to not let them spin in the first place. Also another great step is some solid rubber in the back. A good tire will go a long way.

Maybe I got a little excited there.....You don't necessarily NEED rims....BUT it will allow you to fit more rubber in the back which will increase your traction. At the very least I would get a SERIOUS tires upgrade.

you don't need new rims....maybe a good idea to get stickier tires, but you won't be feeling the torque of the turbo till you hit higher rpms anyway....unless you rev up at every light.

Sure nobody ever NEEDS new rims...

The turbo make more tq in the bottom end, so you will hear about the tires breaking loose in 1st, 2nd, and sometimes even 3rd gear.

A wider tire has to help, if you have a 5AT consider the Qualfe LSD, and the heavier / Wider / Taller wheel will help traction do to a larger moment of inertia.

Rims are a personal thing, I suggest taking a look at the sponsors here at what they have.

You will find most have Volks. And they are all pretty sweet.
