APS TT Vs. Vortech

So i've been attacked by a sworm of mod bugs and F/I is seriously next on my list.

Just got a very nice high paying job (high paying for a senior in highschool-- 50-70k a year, final deal setting is tomorrow) and I've been diggin around in the F/I forums.

I see little random things here and there and I really wanted to consolidate (sat word) these two F/I kits Pluses and minuses in one thread.

I'm not a fan of stillen's based on the fact that its preformence doesn't impress me, the LOUD sound of those damn belts... and the new hood doesn't exactly give me a hardon...

I'm not a greddy fan for the soul reason of loosing that front bar for the Intercooler-- but man i love the greddy brand name =(

I just saw that APS 350z Video and Was highly impressed with it, but know very little about it or APS.

I Like vortec-- I've really only heard good things about it, and its not uncommon to get a good deal on a slightly used one.

So a few basic questions on the APS and Vortec

APS- Cost-- Where to get one-- Time/Cost To install (generally)-- Horsepower gains-- Known problems and Known things it does well

Vortec-- All of the above, and does it have that stillen whinny sound?

Thanks in advance I appreciate earing all of your personally story's and advice

(I'm also open minded to other F/I, Not really a single turbo fan tho)

Well Ive had the Vortech and have the Greddy on my Z and the APS TT on my G. APS is the best IMO, Ive now installed them all. The parts on the APS are like factory. There is really no turbo lag.

APS website:
http://www.airpowersystems.com.au/products_usa.html

You can search there for information on the kit and dealers. You can get the full kit or the tuner kit. The ST or the TT. Prices are supposed to be no higher than MSRP (shipping included to the dealer's location) from APS, so if one of the dealers jacks up the price on you, they are full of crap.

Cost to install is hourly rate for not more than 32 hours for the TT, or you could work a flat fee from a shop (you should go with this way, so the shop has incentive not to screw around).

One issue is smoking, but APS has issued a correction for that in their installation instructions. Second issue is the Unichip only has a limited number of persons that can tune it at this point.

I'd go with the Turbonetics Single Turbo, but that's just me.

First of all, CompUSA will not pay anybody that much money, sorry buddy. lol Hate to rain on your parade. Doesn't matter who you know. If you know the manager he can't pay you twice as much as what he pays everybody else. I know somebody who works there and he gets $14 an hour which comes out to around 28k a year. For you to say 50-70 also is a very big gap. Nobody says that. Anyway, back on topic, I would go for the APS TT if I were you. Me personally am goign with the JWT kit and I woudl recommend that to you but there are only two shops that I know of that are installing them now and they are in NY and CA.

yeah... that much $'s from comission? That's just what they tell you to get you on the hook. Believe it when you see it, cause you ain't getting that much money. My roommate worked at the highest volume compusa in the country and they told him the same thing... but it never panned out. Now he works for Best Try.
