Contemplating forced induction.

Ok guys,
So I have been thinking about supercharging my G. I have a few questions though:

1. Will this void my warranty? I have been told it doesnt because it is a bolt on part but am not sure.

2. I have an 06 5AT - can my tranny handle the extra power? I have seen a few SC Kits designed for the AT - namely stillen and Rotrex - but I am afraid of wearing my tranny out early.

3. What is the reliability on Super Chargers? I like the Stillen but dont want to replace my hood - I want to keep it stock. Is there anyway to get a stillen SC without changing my hood?

4. Is it worth the money? I have researched and it seems like I can gain anywhere from 70-100 whp depending on the SC - this would make me an M3/911 eater and put me in Corvette, AMG territory!!!

Please let me know what you guys think - I am seriously considering this mod because I want MORE POWER!! But not at the cost of destroying my tranny and voiding my warranty.

Thanks.

it'll void it unless you get the stillen kit and buy their warrenty

superchargers are pretty reliable

you will have to change the hood in some way shape of form for the stillen - no way to avoid that

auto tranny can handle it or people wouldn't do it

is it worth the money? hmm that is subjective. No mod is "worth" the money

NON, even with Stillen (only Stage 2) I believe the warranty is only for the engine block and that is through Stillen and not Inifniti/Nissan. Bottom line when your dealer see that FI in your car they'll give you a hard time. When you look close to it, SC will be whining the whole time you're WOT so people can hear you all the time especially when passing them, a Turbo only gives you that Psstt sound when you let go of the gas and shifting. Vortech does have BOV and if you live in CA no turbo yet that is CARB approved.

like AthenG said, the "warranty" with the Stillen SC is thru Stillen themselves, and covers damage to the engine. your Infiniti warranty (at least on the engine and possbily the drivetrain including tranny) will probably be void unless you have a super cool dealer.

now regarding supercharger vs turbocharger for auto.... the superchargers build power more gradually, in a linear fashion as the rpms rise (since it's driven off the crank) whereas the torque from the turbos will hit more suddenly (most turbo kits for the G can hit full boost between 3000-4000rpms IIRC, i could be off with those numbers. the SC will probably end up putting less strain on the 5AT tranny.

i'm no expert on this stuff, just addicted to G35Driver and researching FI on my own... i'm sure some people with more experience than me will chime in

yea i know the "psss" only comes when i let go of the gas. but think about it, you're on the street next to a couple of ppl standing, and all of a sudden they hear our exotic exhaust getting louder n louder followed by a "PSSSSS". that's pure sexiness there... lol

thanx for ur comments tho, the stillen's sc has a 1 year warranty on the engine,, u know of any turbos that may have that or better?

turbonetics has been toying with the idea of offering an engine warrenty, but hasn't said anything official yet

Read my reveiw on the Stillen Stage 2 on my 5AT...

https://g35driver.com/forums/forced-induction/98413-my-impressions-stillen-stage-2-a.html

BTW, there is no turbo kit that comes with a warranty. Also, if you have the Stillen installed by your Nissan dealer, they will honor the factory waranty. At least thats what my friend who is a service writer at a Nissan dealer told me. Thats only with the Stage 1 or 2 though.

And will probably cost you a foot and an arm to have it done by them.
