That is exactly my thoughts as well, but you just articulated it much better.

Supra was a great car.... But what have they done since?
It's been a while.

Looks & go are one thing...
But they had better figure out how to build a chassis if they want to compete in this class.

The Supra was original. If auto makers listened to what the customer wants instead of what the other automaker is making there would probably be more originality. Now theres too much marketing competing going on. Instead of nice smooth looking cars that handle nice, we are getting cars that all look the same with different names.

i think it's not a bad idea for lexus to make a high performance dep just like M and AMG. the only problems i see for lexus is that 1) it will take time for lexus to build up that image.. AMG and M has been around for a very long time. second, and most importantly, lexus dont make real sports cars. like IS350..its fast and faster than all cars in its class when it first came out (when bmw still had that 330i and we have the 1st gen Gs..), however, it always loses to bmw in mag tests and whatnot. the reason is NOT cuz it's not FAST..but thats all it is.. a big engine that makes the car go fast in staright line.. the real problem is they dont have the handling dynamics nor have the amazing handling ability and feel that BMW is so well known for. Lexus (or anyone)can easily make the IS (or any car) go VERY fast with a 450..or 500hp or wahtever engine they want to put in it.. but it still wont handle like a bmw.
i think it will give AMG a run for it's money since Merc is never known for real sports feeling.. they focus more on straight line power, lux, etc.. than real sports car type of handling and feel. thats what bmw does best! (again, Merc always loses to bmw when it comes to performance.. and i mean that by not just staright line power but overall performance..cuz we all know Merc makes some insanely fast cars with insane power)
so to put it together, i really dont think lexus can can take much away from BMW M series since they are the only real "sports/race car" in it's class.

here's a link to the site. Photochop? I don't know. It's almost impossible to tell nowadays but here the link to the site it came from:
http://www.jalopnik.com/cars/detroit...isf-219940.php

And here's a link to some actual pics (look at posts 19 and 20):
http://clublexus.com/forums/showthre...ight=photoshop

And here's a link to some admitted photochopping.

Thanks for the links, al503. It some of the first real pics I've seen of the new ISF 500. It looks like the stacked quad pipes will stay. I like that the pipes are not chrome as the "photochopped" photo would have suggested.

I believe the ones in the actual pics are of the test mule so whether they make any changes, or if the tips are chromed in production might be anyone's guess.

I don't know if I love the quads but at least they're doing something different and it's definitely not on the conservative side. I hope that mentality is consistent with the suspension and the engine.

I personally think the IS350 looks way better than 335 and 07 Gsedan.

+1 !

I agree, but could not fork over the extra $$$ for the IS350, with its lifeless steering/handling, over the G35.
