Which One : Lexus RX330/350 or Infiniti FX

I am helping my parents choose a car for them to use to go to work. They currently drive a base 05 camry LE model and its a great car but not so safe. Since my parents travel to work which takes about 25-35 minutes (dont know how many miles it takes them) I think they need a more safer car such as a nice SUV. We dont need a huge SUV because we dont have a big family so a nice 4-5 seater would work out well.

We had a ford expidition before but we got rid of it and I dont want to get another american car.

My parents want the RX but I want to FX LOL....Infiniti baby! Yes we will test drive both cars and see how they like each one and how much the cost is on each one. I have a feeling that the Lexus will last longer than the infiniti???

Any suggestions would help. Thanks

if they had a camry then i assume they like that floaty feel so they'd feel right at home in the RX

Don't wanna **** anyone off but, Rx350 is definetly a better buy then Fx. Unless we are here talking about Fx45 well then that's a whole different ball game.

+1 FX probably isn't for them but it doesn't hurt to go test drive one.

FX35 is fine, forget the 45 you can get that extra power if needed cheaper by other means. Since this is for your parents they would be happy with the 35. Remember most of the g35/350z enginge parts also fit the fx35.

i was in the same boat about 2 years ago.... my mom wanted the rx330 and i wanted her to get an fx35.... i even made her put a deposit to lock in the price on the fx... but of course, she went with the rx330 - seems to be a more "grown up" car

It's good to see how neutral Infiniti owners are. I guarantee if you took this topic over too CL.com, they would kill the FX first and ask questions later.

Yeah, they sound like future RX owners to me. That car definitely appeals more to the crowd that want a luxury ride, its very smooth. The FX drives more like a sports car, and if you aren't going to be driving it that way the ride may be a bit too firm for you. Although on my road trip this weekend my buddies kept commenting on how smooth the ride was, so maybe its not too harsh now that they changed the suspension up a bit.

Yeah, the '03s and '04 will definitely beat you up a little bit. I love feeling the road though so for me, it feels like home. When did they make the suspension change, '05??

Half hour commute to work isn't too far, I say go for FX35. RX350 definitely rides softer/comfortable than FX35, but it won't as much fun as driving the FX. Tell them with FX, they will learn to drive more aggressive which will shave off their commute time from 35mins to about 20mins.

My sister hated the FX interior, felt like she was sunk in it, I felt the same but liked the car better than the RX. My mom and her both ended up with RX330s, they are nice, but the FX really drives nicer IMO. It has no floaty feel that the RX has so much of.
