US Market Left Out Once Again: Euro Market To Recieve FX37, NOT 35

What the ghey? I'm beginning to wonder if Infiniti choosing to launch their entire line with the 3.7L VVEL motor has more to do with making sure their cars are Euro 5 Emissions compliant. Perhaps production is not yet ramped up enough to introduce the motor across the board in the US? Or maybe Infiniti just flat out felt like being stingy when it came to its American buyers. Or maybe they figured most Americans would be too cheap to pay for additional hp (which to be fair is true in many cases). Or perhaps they want to keep the motor exclusive to the G37 and the upcoming 370Z until they have something more powerful to shove under the hoods of those cars before introducing the motor into the lighter G Sedan as well as the EX and FX?

Whatever the reason, I still say Infiniti should have introduced the US market '09 FX with the 3.7L motor rather than choosing to wait a year or two. After seeing that the European market would be getting a G37 Sedan and an EX37 when the brand launches there this fall/winter, I had assumed that we would be receiving the 3.7L motor here as well in both the '09 G Sedan and the '09 EX. Which is why I was surprised when the '09 FX was announced with the 3.5L HR instead of the 3.7L. With the news that Infiniti will be launching an FX37 in Europe, I've become even more convinced that we won't get the 3.7L here in the Sedan or the EX or FX until 2010, possibly 2011.

Apparently, the 37 will also be available with the FX50's standard 21" wheels as an option. Something we again don't get here in the US. The 37 gets 20" wheels as standard equipment with the 21s as an option while the US market '09 FX35 comes standard with 18s with 20s available as an option The 21" wheels are an FX50 exclusive item here in the States. Weak sauce.

Found this on Truck Trend:

Why don't we get the 3.7? Infiniti cites a few reasons. The company wanted to differentiate the V-6 and V-8 models, and one element of that was by widening the performance gap.
There was only a 42-horsepower difference between 2008 FX35 and 45; the new engines are now separated by nearly 90 horses. Also, the 3.5-liter's 303 horses are only 27 fewer than the 3.7 puts out, and its 6.1-second 0-to-60 time is actually faster than the previous FX45's. Despite what Infiniti says, though, the real story may be one of cost: the 3.7-liter is a more complex engine, and using it could've driven up the MSRP on U.S. models.

Basically, Americans are too cheap to pay more money for a better car. Hmm...why am I not surprised. I'm really not too shocked considering how many people stroll in here like they own the place expecting to pay under invoice.

I'm also not understanding Infiniti's reasoning in leaving some good stuff away from the American Market.

If Europe gets a 7-speed automatic & 3.7L V6 as their standard V6 engine, why shouldn't our market have the same standards?

At least we're still getting the 7 speed transmission.

For the upcoming FX, yes. But Europe is getting the 7 speed tranny for practically every new Infiniti.
